The player we select to back up Matt Birk is a fiesty player with good technique and good athleticism. He's a good pulling center and knows how to take the proper angles. He has the versatility to back up at both center and guard, in a pinch. He's also a smart player who knows his limitations (doesn't have great size-will struggle against mammoth DTs) and how to play within them. Not to mention that he has been the backup to Birk in Minnesota also. So...
