good. they called me to come in and train on some new equipment. I hate training... i prefer to learn on the streets like everyone else.

          It's always the same

They train me in the same session as everyone else, they put other people in chage, but everyone comes to me anyway because I am the only one who really understands what these applications specialists are talking about.

1 more point for the Vancouver job.

          dammit.

The Assassins' next pick is to bring depth to our running game, and to give us some flexibility on passing downs as well.

We are very impressed w/ our next pick's ability. He can run hard in between the tackles, which is the style we like, plus he has the ability to bounce a run outside the tackles and make a big play. He's also a good receiver out of the backfield, so we feel we can line him up in the slot on 3rd down, at times. We also are confident that we can use him on short yardage/goal line situations, as he's a tough, strong runner. So...

the Erie Assassins select Marion Barber III, RB from the University of Minnesota with the first of their 2 picks in the 5th round.

With the 1st pick in the 5th round of the 2005 BZFL Rookie Draft we select....OT Calvin Armstrong WASH ST
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
              It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

The Assassins will take a flyer on a solid character guy and a terrific athlete w/ their next pick.

This guy was a favorite of his former defensive coordinator @ Virginia, Al Golden (who is now his defensive coordinator for the Assassins). He has good athleticism, is strong, and has the ability to both defend the run and rush the passer from the DE position. He also has experience not only playing in a 3-4 scheme, but in Coach Golden's 3-4 scheme. We have good depth @ the position for now w/ Michael Haynes and Derrick Burgess backing up Randy Starks and Anthony Weaver, so we're in no hurry for him to step in. He does have some injury concerns, as he injured his knee 4 games into a standout senior campaign, then sustained an eye injury that required surgery back in January. He is recovering well from both injuries, and we're confident that he will make a strong recovery from his injuries in time. So...

the Erie Assassins select Chris Canty, DE from the University of Virginia w/ their 2nd pick in the 5th round.
