    Ottawa looks a little miffed

They're taking it out on Atlanta. It's only 7-1 at the start of the third..............Hossa has 4 goals and 1 assist.

    Miffed, yeah.
They're playing for first place overall in the league.

Too bad the Sabres can't get miffed.

    Senators 8, Thrashers 1

OTTAWA (AP) -- Marian Hossa had a career-high and team-record four goals -- including three straight in the first period -- to lead the financially troubled Ottawa Senators to an 8-1 victory Thursday night over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Ottawa, which leads the Eastern Conference with 53 points, played its first game since failing to meet its player payroll after a complex refinancing deal fell through two days earlier.

Todd White -- selected earlier in the day as the NHL's player of the month for December -- Jody Hull, Shaun Van Allen and Radek Bonk also scored for the Senators. They have lost just three of their last 26 games (19-3-4-0).

Hossa scored on Ottawa's third, fifth and seventh shots as the Senators took a 4-0 lead and chased Atlanta goalie Byron Dafoe 12:03 in.

Someone somewhere suggested we let the Sabres go, and buy Ottawa and move them here.
Don't I wish, there's a real house cleaning for you. Even get Muckler back.

Maybe they could issue the Sabres IOUs and they would beat Carolina tonight.
