Damn, so I guess Drury didn't heal in time. I am pretty sure he'll be ready to go by the next game (Thursday of next week).

Drury just might play today. They sent Novotny back down and called D Nathan Paetsch up, according to sabresinsider.com.

Also, Rory Fitzpatrick is on the IR with a "systematic infection".

Tonights game just proves that we need a hard nose defenceman in there to clear out the front of the net. NJ forwards were in front of Miller all night eating up those rebounds!!

we played very flat. Some nice plays from individuals but we never really got anything going tonight.

That and they are starting to be worn thin with all the injuries. Look, I like what has come out of Rochester this year as much as anyone, but this can't continue. The Sabres' lineup was too young and too inexperienced against a much more experienced Devils team. With Drury and Briere out, the team seemed to lack leadership as well. This became evident when Ruff started using only 7 or 8 forwards towards the end. They need to get healthy, and fast. I don't know what can be done, if anything at all, but this is getting kind of ridiculous.

On the upside, the Sabres are in good position to make the playoffs and when the injured players come back, they should be rested and ready to go for the playoffs. We should be almost be at full strength after the Olympics.

I know quoting myself is corny, but I wanted to talk about how my worries were justified.

As chubluv said, NJ basically had 1st class tickets to park in front of Ryan all night. I was very disappointed. In every game that Buffalo has lost this year (And many of them on Saturdays), they look absolutely flat. It's never that they lose on a fluke play, or just slightly outworked, they look completely crappy. Miller did what he could, but he can't stop a 2nd attempt if someone is hanging out to his right or left the entire time. Shame on the defense!

I thought Miller played very well. Like people here have observed, he can't stop everything when he's continually left out to dry. The guy is an increadibly sharp goaltender at every moment though. It's very difficult to find goaltending that helps you really get somewhere...but I think we have it in Miller.

the defense need s to practice clearing the net and zone...Lindy Ruff's Lil Sound Bytes have never mentioned these two things, clearing rebounds out of the slot area and clearing the puck out of the zone are the 2 things we dont do well..
