Eagles | Team set to sign Bentley

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports the Philadelphia Eagles are set to sign free agent C LeCharles Bentley (Saints). Bentley's interest in joining the Eagles is so strong that the only thing preventing the signing from happening Friday, March 3, was the delay in the start of free agency.
This is bad news....too bad.

and bentley is a total jackass for not exploring his options.. he is the hottest olineman on the market.. he should take advantage of that..

the Philly Inquirer is a rag, I can't tell you how many times I've seen them report what Eagles fans want to believe (lived in Philly for a long time). I won't be surprised if its way off the mark. Haven't we also seen reports saying he wants to play in Cleveland?
I have a nagging feeling that the Bills aren't looking at him anyway with Preston in the wings, but you're right, Bentley is an idiot if he doesnt test the waters

You're 100% right. If true, it's tampering plain and simple. It also makes very little sense- where would the reporter be getting this info? From the Eagles? Nope. From the Saints? Nope. From Bentley's agent? Has to be. So either the agent is a COMPLETE moron, or he's trying to create panic among other interested teams. Hard to say which is more likely.

.......or the crackerjack Philly Inquirer reporter got his info from an Eagles chat site, momentarily confused his franchise in Madden 06 with real life, or otherwise based that tidbit on less than reliable info.
This could be fluff,smoke like Tatonka said it's tampering if it were true. Which tells me it's NOT.. But is center our main team needs? Bently is the financialy most expensive center a team can buy. Proven, young, and awesome. I'm cool with Duke Preston for anotehr season just because Bently is soo expensive.. If Mawae comes cheap then sure but lets focus on LG, safeties,TE and backup QB & RB. and maybe even LE & WR.....
is this coming from the same news outlet that said our starting RT from last year was PAT Williams...

Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports New Orleans Saints OC LeCharles Bentley denied Friday, March 3, a Philadelphia newspaper report that he is planning to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles as soon as free agency begins Monday, March 6. One thing that is clear is Bentley will not be returning to the Saints. Earlier this week, he made his strongest comment yet, telling CBSportsline that, "I would rather sit out a season than play for the Saints again."
