Shaun Alexander off the market - signs with Seattle

MVP agrees to 8-year deal to remain with Seattle

    By Len Pasquarelli
    ESPN.com

Ensuring that the NFL's reigning Most Valuable Player would not make it onto the free agent market, the Seattle Seahawks late Sunday night reached agreement with star running back Shaun Alexander on an eight-year contract extension.
The deal, which clearly makes Alexander one of the highest-paid running backs in league history, is worth $62 million and includes about $15.1 million in guarantees. It is believed that Alexander's deal is topped only by the contract of San Diego's LaDainian Tomlinson among current league backs.

    Great news!
To my eyes it means more possibilities to land Hutchinson!

SEATTLE - NFL Most Valuable Player Shaun Alexander has agreed to a $62 million, eight-year contract to remain with the Seattle Seahawks, his agent said Sunday night.
Jim Steiner said the deal is the richest ever for an NFL running back and will pay the league’s leading rusher over $15.1 million in guaranteed cash, through signing and other bonuses and 2006 base salary.
Steiner told The Associated Press of the signing in a telephone interview, minutes after the NFL pushed back the start of the free-agent signing period 72 hours to Thursday.
