All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

If there isn't any ratings then how does the system work for how valuable a player will be? Does their weekly production get based on how well they do that week of the NFL season?
Sorry if I'm asking a ton of questions. I just wanna get the low down of how everything works.
Everything is based on the previous NFL season...if a player played 4 out of 16 games you can bet he will have a problem playing more than 8 games in the sim...like wise if a player ran for 200 yards then he will not be a 1500 yard rusher in the sim.

I'm taking it there's a website all the owners are at that takes care of this stuff and gives you all the info you need like ratings, money and all that other stuff.
So any player on this team I would wanna cut wouldn't cost me any type of a cap hit? I can just get rid of them scott free without any penalties and only the ones I decided to keep would count against the cap?
Can you only sign players to 5 year contracts? Can you do anywhere from 1-5 if you didn't want them for that long or is it either 1 or 5?
So all of these players are my choice? None of them are under long term contracts.
Say the players I didn't want. What kind of a cap hit would it take to get rid of them players or am I just starting from scratch with no prior obligations?
This might sum up your questions:
16.12 - Any new owner who inherits a team from another owner may terminate any player's contract without penalty. These players will be immediately released into the free agent pool. This applies only to players on the owner's team at the time the new owner takes over. The owner must announce any contract-terminated players before the start of the next transaction period.
you can basically gut the team if you wish but I would hope you would make an effort and keep the minimum 20 players like all the other owners.

There is no website as of now. Everything is done through posting or emailing (Team listings, Player Ratings, etc.).

as I said above...skill players go by their stats...if you draft Blake as your starter he will be ok for about 60 passes...if you draft Peyton then he is a great QB. No real difference between the real game and the sim as far as that is concerned...but remember if you put PM behind a swiss cheese OL he will not be as good as real.

If you have a skill position player like say Peyton Manning and he got hurt in real life does it affect the simulation league at all? I'm taking it doesn't but just wanna make sure.
Is how they're gonna perform on the simulation determined by how they are doing this season or only by last season.
Say I had a skill position player and get got benched or injured in real life. Does that mean he will be useless in the simulation and you need to play your backup.
If they are playing like junk during the real NFL season does that mean they will be junk in the simulation too?
It looks like all the defensive players and OL have a ranking but none of the skill position players on offense.
remember, there is no way to rate OL, and defensive players based on their stats...that is why skill players go by their stats.
the P and K really go by the game also...if you have a good team then your K will be better than in the real league...if your team sucks then your P may be worse then in the real NFL.

depends on the amount of "hurt"...if he misses an entire season then he is worthless the next game year upon which those stats are based. if he misses a game or two I wouldn't worry about it...it all depends on the number of games missed. I had Troy Vincent last year...he missed, what 10 games for the Bills in 2004?? he missed 3 or 4 for me last year. Each player has an injury number in their stats...5 is perfect, 1 is terrible. The game will let you know...
btw, Manning is under contract for the foreseeable future.

I'm sure Manning is wrapped up. I was just hypothetically speaking.
But say I had a skill position player. If he is stinking it up or playing great in the real NFL does that affect how he will do in the simulation for this season depending on how well he is playing in real life. Do you have to judge with them guys how good you think they're gonna do this season or just how they did last season.
What about the rookie draft, how does this work? I'm taking each player also has a rating coming out of college too?
Would somebody like Leinart have a rating or if you drafted him would you just have to store him on your bench until he started getting playing time in real life?
If I drafted him and he didn't start on his real NFL team that means I'd have to keep him on my bench too, correct?

Yes, if he sucks in the real NFL he will suck in the sim league. If he is great in the NFL he may be knocked down a peg if the sim team you create around him sucks. It really is based on last year. However, if you have a guy that is going to be a free agent in the real NFL and was going from catching passes from Manning to playing for Detroit (or sadly, Buffalo) you might want to rethink your options.

Rookies drafted in 2006 (we will have our rookie draft right after our free agent draft) are ineligible to play in this season because they do not have stats. They cost nothing against the salary cap and are inserted into your roster, if you wish, on a one year deal next year. Nothing in the rule book says you ever have to draft or have a rookie on your team.
