BZFL in search of 1 new owner!

The BillsZone Simulated Football League is in need of 1 owner. STAT! We are going to start our annual free agent draft two weeks from today and need somebody to take over a team.

Please contact Devin, R. Rich, Mikey82 or myself if you are interested. Showing interest does not mean you automatically get the team!

    Thank you.

How much of your time does this take? I might be interested if it doesn't involve tons of free time.

How does this league work? Shoot me an explanation of how it works too.

I work an odd schedule(12a-8a) so I'm usually sleeping from 1p-8p or so.

Once you do the draft I'm taking it as if there isn't any specific times that you need to be around for it? Is it basically like FF after that and you can attend to your team on your own schedule?

      Which team is it?

How does the FA draft work? You just draft whatever FA's are on the market? Is there a salary cap involved or anything like that?

Are there college drafts too where you basically do a mock draft for your rosters?

Fill me in on the rules and all that other good stuff and I might be interested.

take a look at the threads in this forum...

        very basically:

        1. we draft a complete team of 53 players that includes all positions including a long-snapper.

        2. each player has a money value based upon the round that they were drafted in or the long term contract that they are given by you, the owner.

        3. you put together the best line up each week and the game is simmed by a computer.

        4. the draft is the hardest and longest part. at the end of each season you must keep at least 20 players. all the rest go into the pool to be drafted as free agents. we draft 2 rounds per day, everyday for about a month to six weeks (except weekends). the draft is held from 8AM-10PM - if you need to miss a pick you need to fire a short list off to one of the commissioners to geta pick that round. you do not have to draft each round.

        5. the league is involved and takes time. your first responsibility is to cut players from last years roster and hand out contracts. Devin, R. Rich, Mikey82 or I can help you through that.

The team up for grabs is the Kalamazoo Squirrels. You can change the city, nickname and stadium that they play in if you wish.

How do you sign a player to a contract? Is there a computer that dictates if the offer is acceptable pertaining to that players abilities?

you decide on who you sign...there is a set amount the contract goes up each year...

let's say you have a player currently making $1 mil. His contract would go up 10% of that in year 1...it would go up 20% of year 1 in year 2...it would go up 40% of year 2 in year 3 and so on...

so his contract would look like (in millions):
            2005 $1.0
            2006 $1.0
            2007 $1.200
            2008 $1.680
            2009 $2.688
            2010 $4.838

after 5 years you can sign him to a new deal (once) or you can throw him back in the pool. if you choose to sign him again he picks up where he left off. in 2011 he would be $9.6 mil....the maximum contract is $10 mil. if you do sign him to a long term deal and then decide to cut him the penalty is half of the remaining contact escalated into that years cap. There is no penalty if the real NFL player retires or has a career ending injury.

Where can I find a layout of this teams current roster and cap situation?

                ask and ye shall receive:

remember you can severly cut from this roster. and you don't have to sign players to five year contracts...these are just the numbers SHOULD you want to sign them up to five years. there is no penalty for cutting any player...they are not officially "under contract" yet.

I'm taking it all these guys go into a database that simulates the games and all that.

Does each player have a rating like a video game does or something in that nature?

Cause someone like Pennington would've been good a year or two ago but he isn't the same player now. Do they have a rating that changes every so often depending on their real status in the NFL or does this have a system pertaining only to how the perform in the simulation?

Example: Pennington might've been rated an 80 or so(in video game standards) two years ago but at this current time in his career his rating would be down because of his injury problems in real life.

So how much would these players cost if I didn't want them for 5 years? Just the amount that they already have for year one like Roy Williams at 7.5 million. If I only wanted him for 1 season he would cost 7.5 million and then be a FA after this season I'm taking it?

Is there a website or something that you enter your starting lineups in or do you make a post each week and then you enter them?

Where can I find the players ratings(if there are) for all the players on my team and the other teams for trade purposes and/or FA signings?

If there isn't any ratings then how does the system work for how valuable a player will be? Does their weekly production get based on how well they do that week of the NFL season?

Sorry if I'm asking a ton of questions. I just wanna get the low down of how everything works.

So all of these players are my choice? None of them are under long term contracts.

Say the players I didn't want. What kind of a cap hit would it take to get rid of them players or am I just starting from scratch with no prior obligations?

Example: Pennington might've been rated an 80 or so(in video game standards) two years ago but at this current time in his career his rating would be down because of his injury problems in real life.

each player has a ranking with 10 as the highest...rankings do change each year based upon previous years performance...I would supply those to you to let you know how each person is played...skill players go by their stats...Pennington would suck this year - you would cut him with no penalty.

that is correct. you choose the length of the contract, the numbers are already set. I provide the numbers just to make it easier for everybody.

The only time a contract value is not set is for the 2 Restricted Free Agents that you can name. You place a value on their head with a one year deal.
