Well?
One might assume Arizona would have traded their #10 and a second for Matt L. and we still would have had our man.

Would have traded it... period!
BERNIAC!
If I was forced to make the pick and not allowed to trade down?
Once Huff was gone, my pick would have been either Bunkley or Cutler.
I would have taken Leinart and traded him. Denver and the Cards knew we would not take him. I would have called their bluff
I heard that Minnesota offered all of their day one picks, but Marv wouldn't take it, that jackass

Actually, I would have liked to have traded down, try to get him at like 12 or 13 (I don't remember who drafted in these spots, but I know he didn't go until 14 with Philadelphia). ALLEGEDLY (emphasis on this word) a team or two were willing to give up their first and their second picks to take our #8 overall - we could have possibly had Bunkley at 13, and Tamba Hali in the second (with our 2nd) - that would make one hell of a Defense if not by midseason, for sure by the season after next. then we could still worry about taking the best guard available with one our 2 thirds.

Could not have gotten Hali in the 2nd. He's gone at #20 to KC
Tamba Hali was just drafted in the first, so that is out.Originally Posted by ublinkwescore

There HAS to be something that the FO saw that we didn't know about. Everywhere I watched/read leading up to this draft had Whitner as a mid 1st to late 2nd ropunder. How the heck could he make a "Calvin Pace" type jump up and there be no reason for it. All I know is he better be the next Ed Reed-type player or it's going to be seen as a bad pick that high. He would have been a lot better if we had traded down and still got him somewhere in the 12-17 range (of which people were swapping picks all over to get the same guys we were hoping to get at 8). I hey, if we get the guy we want and even a 4th rounder to drop 3 or 4 spots, why not? Both ESPN and NFL Network said we were receiving calls from teams looking to trade up, but we turned them all down and picked well before our time was up. weird....
SO no one likes donte here?
The answer was anybody on that list but Whitner and Ngata.
