All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
There is work to be done and things to be learned. We are going to try to get the old look back - or something close to it. We also know there are bugs. A thread will be started to report bugs and then we can pass those onto the host.
Thank you for all the patience and support with this - hopefully this will greatly reduce the crashes and other site issues we have had lately.
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

I mean, Stamkos has spent his whole career with an org that has been successful. Why would he want to tarnish his legacih with the **** show we currently have going on?

I dont know. Not a ton of teams can fit his salary. Buffalo is probably one that can.
I don't think it'll happen. But I won't say it's impossible
I agree the Sabres need that one more vet scorer that can take just a little pressure off Tage/Cozens/Peterka. I agree another tough, scoring veteran. What O' Reilly was supposed to be for Eichel, et al. Show the kids how to prepare. How to come out ready at the start of each game. Then the kids can be all they can be. Such an addition would really lift up this team.
TNT intermission crew had a discussion about Owen Power in between periods of the last Detroit game. Anyone hear it? It was, I think, Paul Bissonette (who I hate) who actually made some good points. This is the end of Power's second full season and there are still some holes in his game. They did a point/counterpoint type discussion on Power. I think they nailed the pluses and minuses. Power is big, gifted and flashes at times. He clearly has gotten better, benefited from the Sabres throwing him into the NHL right at the outset. But... there are still holes in his game. On the first Detroit goal, Bissonette pointed out, that Raymond found himself with only Power in between him and the goal. Power backed up as Raymond skated in instead of going to the forward and engaging him. Oops. Set the pace for the next 7 minutes and Detroit's 3 goals. Bissonette mused that he didn't understand why they Sabres threw $50+ million at Power who has not yet shown he was fully "there."
Personally, I think he's right, but I also have seen Power get a lot better over these two seasons. I still think he needs to be paired with a veteran defender for another year or two, not Dahlin or anyone currently on this roster.

He’s 34 so he prob has a few good years left but according to Sportrac he’s made $116 million in his career. And that’s just playing. I’m sure he has endorsements.
I guess I don’t see why he’d want to mess with a struggling team at this point. He’s put up numbers. He’s won the Cup.
If I were in his position, I’d wither go to a contender and take a couple more cracks at a Cup or I’d walk away. I wouldn’t mess around with any middling or rebuilding teams.
But hey, that’s just me. Maybe he wants the challenge of mentoring young guys and putting some middling team over the top to become a contender.

I look at Dahlin and that's where im at. Remember how horrific he was defensively for the first several seasons? I think it was 3 seasons ago, the season after the Hall debacle, where he was horrific in the first third of the season. And as Joe yerdon and Lance Lysowski pointed out, it was like a switch got turned on. His game defensively jumped a huge level. As did his offensive game. It was one good game. And then two. And the. Five. And then a bad game, and then 8 great games. Ect.
I hope that's where power is heading. Though I really don't think he's ever going to be on Dahlins level.

Well. A few things. One. Not sure how many teams can afford him unless he takes a huge discount. And two, stamkos is from the Toronto area. He would be closer to home.
Again, I have no idea what happens and I'm sure Buffalo isn't on his radar. But if I was Buffalo, I would pick up the phone and see if there's any interest. Adding stamkos isn't a small jump. He would instantly make the Sabres a very dangerous team.
But I also think the Sabres should seek out a disgruntled player for trade. Maybe get him under value like the Wings did with Debrincat.
On the night the Buffalo Sabres got eliminated from playoff contention for a 13th-straight season, I think it was appropriate they played the Dallas Stars. Paul Hamilton shares his postgame thoughts:
Examples:
They aren’t tough to play against and Kevyn Adams needs to find ways to get players that aren’t 5’10 and weigh 175 pounds.
Read as: if we have to watch Kevyn Adams put Tyson Jost on the ice one more time, then he needs to be fired. Useless player. Jeff "the cherry-picker" Skinner also has become a huge non-factor. Age and size working against him.
The 13th straight year of not making the playoffs in an NHL record and is tied with the New York Jets as the longest playoff drought in professional sports. It’s unbelievable that Buffalo's two most prominent sports teams have put their fans through this. Before Sean McDermott showed up the Bills had been out of the playoffs for 17 years.
Read as a very unsubtle shot directly at Terry Pegula.
This team constantly has been in front of the opponents net. They made Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen’s life extremely difficult as he had to fight for every inch of ice he could get. I have never seen a team that is as good as this team is at tipping pucks in front of the net. That’s the No. 1 reason that the Sabres don’t score goals because I can count on one hand how many players on the Sabres will go to the net.
Read it as it is: We've complained about this for years. The Sabres do not go to the net.
I don’t know what made me do this, but I went back and looked at the Sabres’ history.
They had 41 seasons prior to Pegula’s ownership. In those seasons, they made the playoffs 29 times and missed the playoffs 12 times.
So, in 13 years under Pegula, the Sabres have already missed the playoffs more times than they did in the previous 41 years combined.
That’s a disgusting stat.
I think last night's loss eliminated them. And it's like... Finally. Id see that Philly game and the Detroit came coming up and I got hope. It exhausting.
Now I have another fear for the offseason: Pegula decides to care about the franchise again and lords over it. Has to have a say in every decision.
Just hire a president of hockey ops and call it a day.

Last year, we missed the post season by 1 point. This year, it won’t be 1 point but it’s gonna be close again- within 4 or 5 wins, maybe less.
I think Granato needs to go. I think we need a hockey guy running things- president of hockey ops, hockey czar, whatever title you want to give it. It needs to be someone who knows the game and someone who won’t let Pegula interfere.
The fan base is just beaten down. The team is pretty far from being a contender but they’re not that far from being competitive. Pegula has to see that they need to do something to get wins quickly to get the fans back.
At this point, I just hope they beat the Caps and knock them out of the wild card spot.

I can't tell you how I feel. Because I live and die with the team. Thank God the Tigers are off to a great start and Michigan won a natty (and in the frozen four)
I get excited and just as quickly I become apathetic to them. I'm sure once the draft lottery comes out, I'll be playing armchair GM again
