Bills trade for Matt Cassel

Don't like Cassel one bit but he's no worse than what the other options realistically were.

The cap space complaint is a bit weak right now, we know the Bills are going to try and redo Shady's deal to convert some of his base salary to bonus money and get his cap number lowered.

Let's all just calm down and see how this plays out. At least they are keeping us entertained.

Agreed. Cassel is a slightly better Orton and still better than that UFA QB list others will be viewing next week. Reportedly very bright and with 71 starts, he won't look lost if needed to play immediately. It is what it is.

i suppose i exaggerated a little by saying no matter that happens in preseason ej is the starter. if he sucks ass in practice games its likely they would indeed start cassel. i just dont see how he could suck bad enough to get to that point after all thats happened to/for him. hes there with the guys now, he has all the knowledge hes gain and the painful lessons. id be pretty shocked if he couldnt come out and do the minimum to meet the threshold where they would want to see him in games. but its possible

Moore is available as a FA. I don't know about the cheap part.

My dislike for him is mostly centered around the fact that he's not very good, but playing at both USC and for the Pats doesn't help.

Nah, he's got more starting exp than either, younger than McCown, healthier than Hoyer with better short range accuracy. Decent play action guy. He's not going to win many shootouts, but Hoyer and McCown won less.

He's not so bad, not so good either, but probably the aging mold of what Ryan/Roman want Manuel to be.

Youth doesn't matter when the guy you're bringing is at best a backup and you should have no long term plans for him.

Cassell is just another guy like Hoyer, like McCown, like Rex Grossman for that matter.

Except we decided to move assets to acquire him, instead of just using the FA scrap heap to get someone who is virtually his identical, performance wise.

The answer to Draftboy is that one of those athletic, inconsistent qbs might become more consistent.
If neither works out, draft a qb in 2016.

I think you overestimate Locker's abilities. Don't be clouded by his draft spot he has been terrible. Plus as has been said we already have an inaccuate, injury prone QB.

We moved back 40 spots in the draft and gave up the chance to draft the next CJ Ah You next year. I don't really see that as a big loss, and if they were concerned about being shot down by other FAs, I can see the logic of the move.

Locker was playing GOOD football before he got injured last year.

And the Titans are ranked at the VERY BOTTOM on a power ranking poll I just read.

IMO after the 4th round picks are basically house money. Move them for veterans or take flyers on projects, but you shouldn't expect or rely on them to contribute.
