About an 11.8 million dollar increase, not as much as I thought it was up!

I'm not convinced that number includes gambling revenue.

The gambling advertising, especially on Amazon Prime during games is disgusting. It's hardly entertainment for the family.

While I don't agree with all the commercials, I don't think there is an issue there. I think it is fairly easy for parents to have a conversation around the subject of gambling with kids.

Would you consider scantily clad cheerleaders good family entertainment?

    Clarify scantily clad.

NFL cheerleaders are not dressed inappropriately. It's the sexist oglers that make it a problem.

I wonder what the player's union has to say about this.

The NFL just signed billion dollar deals with Amazon, among others.

You are only going to increase the cap by 5%?

    If I'm a player, I'm outraged.

During the commercials little Timmy should be getting you a beer and sweet Katie, the snacks. Sheesh.

Football never has been family friendly. The game itself is about the biggest, strongest, most athletic people we have demolishing each other over a misshapen leather ball. There are violent hits and brutal injuries. There are half-naked cheerleaders on the sidelines, and half the commercials are half-naked women peddling booze. If you actually go to a game, the entire crowd is hammered.

But you're upset that the gambling ads aren't family friendly?

Personally, I'm glad that the league finally embraced the gambling. They made billions off of gambling for decades, all while publicly being against gambling. Like it or hate it, at least they are finally honest about it.

More than $50 billion has been bet on sports with American sportsbooks already in 2022.

Gambling can affect not only bank accounts,
but self-esteem, relationships, physical and mental health, work performance and social life.

I guess that is what the beer is for?

    That's only partially right.

Without marketing the game to kids, it would be dead in two generations. Autographs, merchandise, youth football...the game needs families.

Fair point, but the game itself is based on violence and has always objectified women and embraced alcohol. Hell, the first time I went to a Bills game in the early 90's, there was a giant Marlboro ad right next to the Jumbotron. The gambling is nothing.

The league drives me nuts with this, though. They want parents paying for tickets for kids who are barely old enough to understand the game, but will want overpriced merch and $5 hot dogs once they're in the stadium, but they also make a ton of money selling and advertising booze, so they want to embrace the party atmosphere at the same time. They're constantly playing both sides. It's really irritating.

NFL teams could give all of their tickets away for free, for the entire season, and still make millions and millions of dollars.

The same argument can be made about gambling. It's only a problem if you can't control yourself.

Not sure what the hell that means. All I said that alcohol has the same effect meaning both are vices that can have bad outcomes. Not sure where you’re going?
