How about fathering multiple kids with multiple wives out of wedlock? Or driving home intoxicated? Or cheating on their spouse every opportunity. I grew up with and work with pro athletes, and I can tell you while many of them are "good guys" they have no moral standard. So, I agree protect what shield? It's a shield that symbolizes excellent athletes, not excellent men.

This is a strange as the guy who thinks the 900 phone sex girl is his girlfriend. If you've never met your girlfriend, she's not your girlfriend.

This is a big kicker for Te'o in all of this. He's talked as if they have met, and that he's talked to her family. Say he was "the victim", he's still a big fat ****ing liar.

That was my first thought as well. A devout mormon at a Catholic college. Dating an invisible girlfriend.

On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te’o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators.

It's sad that people do things like this not careing about anothers feelings
