    Re: Bills Sign Askew

    April Fools Day.

Yesterday GMFB had a trivia segment named “April Fools or April Facts”

Are the following “wacky NFL football” statements April Fools or April Fact....see if you can get them without googling the answers....

    1. There have been four players named John drafted with the first overall pick.

    2. A member of the US Supreme Court, a former commissioner of the US Rugby League and a movie star all won the NFL rushing title.

    3. The NY Jets have never beaten the Philadelphia Eagles in NFL history.

    4. Marvin Harrison has never played a NFL game without catching at least one pass.

    5. Saturday Night Live has had more hosts from MLB than the NFL.

    6. Marty Schottenheimer is name dropped in an Eminem song.

For the record, while I watched it I only got two correct. Marvin Harrison and SNL questions. I’ll post the answers on April 2.

    Re: Bills Sign Askew

As promised, here are answers to the GMFB April Fools or April Fact trivia....

    1. There have been four players named John drafted with the first overall pick.

April Fool. Only two in history. John Elway 1983 and John Mutuszak 1973.

    2. A member of the US Supreme Court, a former commissioner of the US Rugby League and a movie star all won the NFL rushing title.

    April Fact

-Byron White – NFL rushing leader in 1938 & 1940, SC Justice nominated by JFK and served 1962-1993. Ruth Bader Ginsburg succeeded him on the bench
-Jim Taylor - 1962. Commissioner of US Rugby League 1978.
-Jim Brown - 8x - 1957-1961, 1963-1965. Several movies, including The Dirty Dozen, Dar of the Sun. Was cast as leading man in The Split, Riot, 100 Rifles, Kenner, tick…tick…tick… among others

    3. The NY Jets have never beaten the Philadelphia Eagles in NFL history.

    April Fact 0-12.

    4. Marvin Harrison has never played a NFL game without catching at least one pass.

April Fact. 206 games, 190 regular season and 16 playoff games. At least one catch is every one.

    5. Saturday Night Live has had more hosts from MLB than the NFL.

April Fool. 12 NFL players have hosted SNL more an any other sport. MLB had one.

    6. Marty Schottenheimer is name dropped in an Eminem song.

    April Fact. 1995 song “Just Don’t Give a F***”

I’m just reporting what the GMFB crew said.

BUT, it makes a lot of sense to not even mention OJ’s name. Besides the fact that he was cast as a “leading man” in very few movies, plus his name is dirt.

None of the movies you cite was he the leading man. These were the real leading men and the draws for those movies....

Towering Inferno - Paul Newman and Steve McQueen
Capricorn One - Eliot Gould and James Brolin
Killer Force - Telly Savalas and Pete Fonda
The Klansmen - Lee Marvin and Richard Burton
The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad - Leslie Nielsen, Priscilla Presley, George Kennedy and Ricardo Montalban
The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear - Leslie Nielsen, Priscilla Presley and George Kennedy
The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult - Leslie Nielsen, Priscilla Presley and George Kennedy

These movies Jim Brown was cast as the “leading man” (No TV Movies) according to ImDb...

    Kenner - 1968
    The Split - 1968
    Riot - 1969
    100 Rifles - 1969
    Tick, Tick, Tick - 1969
    The Grasshopper - 1970
    El Condor - 1970
    Slaughter - 1972
    Black Gun - 1972
    Slaughter’s Big Rip-Off - 1973
    The Slams - 1973
    I escaped from Devil’s Island - 1973
Three the Hard Way - 1974
    Take a Hard Ride - 1975
    Pacific Inferno - 1979
    Crack House - 1989

These movies OJ Simpson was cast as the “leading man” (mostly TV Movies) according to ImDb...

    Why - 1973
    A Killing Affair - 1977
Goldie and the Boxer (TV movie) - 1979
    Detour to Terror - 1980
Goldie and the Boxer Go to Hollywood (TV movie) 1981
Cocaine and Blue Eyes (TV Movie) - 1983
    Frogman (TV Movie) - 1994

So Jim Brown outclassed OJ on the field, Jim Brown outclassed OJ as a “movie star” and Jim Brown outclassed OJ as a human being.

Maybe they could have added to the criteria....'A member of the US Supreme Court, a former commissioner of the US Rugby League a movie star and a suspected murder and convicted felon all won the NFL rushing title.

If you want to lionize OJ, that’s your business. I’m mostly embarrassed that he was a Buffalo Bill.

As someone who has been on this board forever and should know this....who are we memorializing with this post?
Wake up, brush your teeth, and get ready for a day of hating the Dolphins. Or the Pats? How to choose?

I have no idea what that is supposed to mean.

I explained my thoughts quite clearly...

Jim Brown outclassed OJ on the field, Jim Brown outclassed OJ as a “movie star” and Jim Brown outclassed OJ as a human being.
