With teams hesitant to let others see their expansion draft lists, thinking that would allow other teams to see how they really value each of their players compared to one another, the NHL has made a final decision:
NHL will release teams' Vegas expansion draft lists
NEW YORK (AP) After further consideration, the NHL will release teams' protected and available lists to the public before the Vegas Golden Knights' expansion draft in June.
The league announced the decision on Twitter on Wednesday despite NHL general managers expressing a desire to keep the lists private. Deputy commissioner Bill Daly said there was more internal discussion at the league office and that none of the GMs expressed strong views on the subject.
All 30 existing teams must submit their list of protected players by 5 p.m. EDT June 17. Vegas must submit its selections by 5 p.m. June 20, with the announcement of those picks made June 21.
The league said the timing of the lists being released was still to be determined. Each team can protect either seven forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender or eight skaters of any position and one goaltender.
The Golden Knights begin play next season.

I can't shake a really bad feeling that we are somehow gonna get ****ed by this.
Sabres will lose, hopefully, a Franson, Bogosian, Gorges, Ennis, Moulson or like that. So I don't think so. But think about how the Capitals, Penguins and Blackhawks must feel? Like you do x 10.
ELC? IDK.

You still have to wonder if teams that have more talent than the 7:3:1 (or other option) might be willing to trade that 3rd/4th line talent (to the Sabres) in exchange for a young player/pick. In doing that they'd get something for the talent rather than nothing when Las Vegas takes them. Maybe even the Sabres could parlay dumping Bogosian's contract in such a move. Folks will be watching this opportunity for GMTM to work his magic (or not) leading up to this expansion draft.
