November 12, 2002 - Back from the dead - well, sort of...

A couple of months back, the web host decided to erase the site without telling me, so I figured I'd revive it in a section on BillsZone. This will just be an archival of the original site, for anyone who wants to check it out - I don't foresee making any updates to it as the site really lost its significance when the new unis were revealed a few months back (yeah, that's RJ in the banner... lol).

Thanks to everyone who emailed and posted feedback on the many Bills boards (a lot more than I had ever anticipated), it was a lot of fun - you all made it rewarding and worth while for me.

Here's one last pic... Since the Bills have gone to the all blue unis at home, which look very nice BTW, we're all probably wondering what the all white uni would look like if they decided to try it out...

June 11, 2002 - Official uniform unveiling last Saturday, June 8th

Well, love 'em or hate 'em, we're no longer guessing about what the new Bills unis will look like. Actually, the pictures that leaked from MVP.com as well as new NFL 2K3 screenshots a few weeks back, left little doubt as to what the home jerseys would look like, and the NFL Fever 2003 screenshot from a few weeks before that ended up being the real deal.

The only real surprise to me was the color of the numbers on the away jerseys, although the initial photos that were released were very deceiving - the numbers appeared as a baby blue when in actuality they are closer to the royal blue of the 'old' home jerseys.

Overall, I'm warming up to them, and the more pictures I see, I think they look pretty sharp.

That said, I do have a couple of problems with them. The most obvious is that the helmet logo should have been darkened to match the jerseys - I think they look out of place otherwise.

I also think there are just too many colors in the uniform now - I think the Bills did this

purely out of some obligation they felt to represent the past. I have no problem with that, but in this case I think it compromises the overall design.

As for the numbers, they appear overly large to me, and I don't like the blue 'outline' on the home jerseys. But who the hell cares what I think anyway...

May 8, 2002 - Even MORE new helmet mock-ups with new logo

I created a new logo based upon the hideous 'B' logo that is apparently (God willing) only a secondary logo, possibly for use on the sleeves. I'm sure most of you have seen it - it's so ugly that I really don't even want it on this site to be honest...

It was also somewhat inspired by work done by an 'anonymous' artist who did similar logos.

Check them all out HERE.

May 8, 2002 - Site changes

I removed the apparently no longer functional poll from the 'Poll page' and replaced it with an 'Other designs' page to display my other Bills related creations, that are not part of the original uni designs.

Also in the 'Other designs' page is a stars-and-stripes Bills logo I originally made for a bumper sticker project which never went anywhere :( A couple people have asked me about it so I thought I'd put it up. Check it out HERE.

May 8, 2002 - New helmet mock-ups

Well, even though I don't think these helmets are even close to reality, I felt like making a few examples reflecting the gumball-machine helmet stickers mentioned and pictured below. There are 3 versions, the main white one pictured on the sticker, and 2 color variations - red/blue and my personal favorite, blue/blue, which in my mind resembles the new Texans helmets a bit too much (which is probably why they are my favorites - love those Texans unis).

Check them out in the 'Other designs' section HERE.

May 7, 2002 - New helmet sightings?

A very astute Bills fan came across the pic below, which depicts the new generation of stickers used on gumball-machine football helmets. What makes it so interesting is that the full image contains 8 teams - Seahawks, Texans, Rams, Patriots, Redskins, Bills, Giants and Ravens. The only NFL teams that will be wearing uniforms different from this past season are all on the list - Seahawks, Texans, Redskins (new throwback home unis) and Bills. All but the new Bills unis have been unveiled, and the sticker accurately depicts the other 3 teams' changes.

All that said, I don't think the Bills will be sporting white helmets this season, and since apparently the new design is trademarked, maybe these represent some sort of alternate design to be worn on special occasions... Who knows. The logo itself is basically an updated-throwback design.

You can see the full version of the scan with all 8 teams HERE.

July 4, 2001

Well, I figured I'd put my 2 cents in and design some of my own uniforms for 'fun'.
Shortly after Mr. Wilson made the statement above, the Bills' organization rescinded
it and said no changes were going to take place in the near future.

Then a couple of weeks ago I heard Bills' President Tom Donohoe being interviewed
on WNSA, where he made it clear that the Bills are interested in and are looking into
making uniform changes, be they major or minor.

I would guess there will be changes made, they will be relatively minor and they will
appear on the uniforms for the 2002 season.

Anyway, it got me interested again in finishing and posting my designs, so here they are.

May 7, 2002 - Shout! Magazine reports 'Bills to unveil new unis June 8th'

'A source familiar with the situation has told Shout! newspaper that the Bills will unveil their new uniforms on June 8th, which is also the date of the Bills final mini-camp before training camp opens in July.

The new uniforms will feature a deeper navy blue, with red and white as secondary colors. They will also feature the Bills' secondary logo (shown above) - a 'B' built into a charging buffalo.

It is thought that for a short time, the only place to purchase the new merchandise will be from the Buffalo Bills online store and the team store connected to the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse and in the Pittsford Plaza.'

There have been a few stories floating around about why the Bills have yet to unveil the unis, from Mr. Wilson not being happy with them requiring last minute 'tweaking', to a simple marketing move where the Bills can use the uniform release to avoid a lull in this offseason, which has been arguably the most exciting in history.

April 2, 2002 - Bills Official Statement on Uniforms

'The Bills today announced that the team has decided to modify its uniforms in time for the 2002 NFL season. Specific details on modifications are close to being finalized and will be announced at a later date. The team will defer further comment until that time.'

The statement basically just confirms what we've known since last February.

April 2, 2002 - Possible Mock up of New Uniforms?

Based on the NFL Fever screenshot (see below), I made some quick examples of what the new Bills jerseys may very well look like. Cut me some slack though - I didn't have much to go on. The pants will probably look something like the ones shown in the 'Home Design' and 'Away Design' sections to the left.

Images have been moved to the 'Other designs' page HERE.

March 31, 2002 - NFL Fever 2003 Sneak Peak of Bills New Uniforms?

Apparently, a few days ago the NFL Fever 2003 development team released four screenshots of the upcoming Xbox title featuring the new Seahawk uniforms, one of which shows Buffalo Bills players on the far sideline in uniforms that are very different from the current design. It's a fairly safe assumption that these are indeed the new look Bills uniforms.
