Brandt’s Rant-Thank you Eagles

by Stephen Brandt

Right off the bat I have to say that I am so Happy for the Eagles to win the NFC title. I have two reasons why I am happy about it, one is really greedy and the other is not so greedy. Generally I don’t care about the playoffs unless the Bills are in it. I mean why bother following any other team than the one that you grew up with? It’s just games when my teams are not involved in it. But I came up with a couple of reasons to thank those Philadelphia Eagles for making it to the Super Bowl from the prospective of a very frustrated Buffalo Bills fan.

The first reason is that if the Eagles had actually lost that game, guess what we would have heard? The Eagles are like the Buffalo Bills, and we would have heard it until training camp, or maybe beyond. Popular media would have hit us over the head many times, Eagles are equal to the Bills and blablablablabla.

I Guess that we would have been told over and over again about how bad we were in the Super Bowl. As if we haven’t dealt with that enough the media has to bring that up every Super Bowl year. And I am glad that there won’t be a four peat-losing streak this year. That’s one less hassle us Bills fans have to put up with.

Oh and by the way Super Bowl Game Day we will see the Super Bowl XXV Scott Norwood "wide right" kick again, and again and again. But that’s another rant for another time.

eagles017.jpgThe other reason that I am glad that the Eagles won is that we will get the proverbial “Black quarterback” in the Super Bowl talk again. Now before you completely hate me, just listen to me. When an African American quarterback leads their team to the Super Bowl we get the part of the media who is still very racist. We don’t need pointed out that Donnovan McNabb is an African American quarterback, we’re not that stupid, we know.

These two weeks will point out the frauds in the popular media. What I call frauds in the media, are people that try to come up with situations that are “So what” type of topics. Black quarterbacks in the NFL is one of them. It’s so what? There are black quarterbacks out there, hello? It just bugs me that this is whats going to be a topic this super bowl year. And by the way black quarterbacks are successful, what are these media types going to do if another black
quarterback wins a Super Bowl? It might be another issue.
