Starter-
J.P. Losman

Backups-
Kelly Holcomb (Signed 3/4)
Camp FodderKevin Thompson, Tory Woodbury

With Losman anointed the starter and Drew Bledsoe choosing to move on, the Bills resolved their precarious situation with quarterback depth. Cleveland's Kelly Holcomb signed a 4 year, $6.6 Million deal. If Losman falters or injures himself, the Bills now have an experienced hand to salvage what should be a run for the playoffs for this veteran and solid lineup. It is higly unlikely the Bills will use a day 1 pick in the draft at QB.

Starter-
Willis McGahee

Backup-
Travis Henry, Shaud Williams
Dante Brown (Practice Squad)

With Willis McGahee stepping up and salvaging the Bills running attack (and season) it has made Travis Henry expendable. Refusing to submit to a backup role, the Bills have granted the gritty back the opportunity to shop himself around the league. The Bills seem to have found a trading partner with Arizona, with OT L.J. Shelton coming to the Bills. Just as with the QB position, the Bills will need to find a durable and reliable backup for McGahee. The 2005 draft is deep at running back, while the RB market in NFL free agency is quickly drying up. Look for the Bills to make attempts to sign a veteran backup for Willis at a reasonable price, while drafting a RB on day one is also a very strong possibility.

Starter-
Daimon Shelton

Backup-
Joe Burns

Daimon Shelton was a pleasant surprise as a free agent pick up last off season. He provided steady play in providing some key blocking in the Buffalo running attack. Shelton also gave Drew Bledsoe an occasional target with receptions out of the backfield. Joe Burns is a restricted free agent but was suprisingly not tendered by the Bills. Promising Luke Lawton was picked up off the practice squad by the Atlanta Falcons at the end of the season. This leaves the Bills with no depth at FB, so it may be addresssed in the draft or more likely later inthe offseason. They may choose to get a RB/FB hybrid as a solution to replacing Travis Henry – a Reuben Droughns or someone along those lines.

Starters-
Eric Moulds
Lee Evans

Backups-
Josh Reed, Sam Aiken, Jonathan "Fast Freddie" Smith

Camp Fodder- Drew Haddad, Kahlil Hill, George Wilson, Ledaris Vann

The emergence of WR Lee Evans last year into an offensive force solidifies the Bills' receiving corpse into a very dangerous unit. Teamed with the recently restructured and perennial Pro Bowl threat Eric Moulds, the Bills have the most feared 1-2 WR threats in the division. It will be a make-or-break season for #3 WR Josh Reed. After a promising rookie season, production and confidence has fallen. He will be pushed hard by Sam Aiken to retain his spot. While we don't believe the Bills will make any major moves at WR in 2005, don't put it past GM Tom Donahoe to sign or draft added competition at an already competitive position on the roster.

Starters- Mark Campbell

Backups-
Tim Euhus, Rod Trafford, Jason Peters, Ryan Neufield (UFA)

The month of December wrecked havoc on the Bills TE depth. Mark Campbell and 3rd round promising draft pick Tim Euhus both went down with serious knee injuries. This left only Ryan Neufeld with any experience on the roster. 330 lbs. novelty Jason Peters is a TE by number only, but is developing into a valuable and versatile asset on special teams and in the short yardage package. Fortunately, coach Mike Mularkey's offense does not rely on TE's with strong receiving skills. Buffalo may go back to the draft or scour the waiver wire if Campbell's or Euhus' injuries are more serious than expected. It's almost guaranteed that the Bills will not attempt to go after any big dollar/ big names in free agency.

Starters- Trey Teague

Backups-Mike Pucillo

Trey Teague rebounded from 2 mediocre seasons to post a strong 2005. New offensive line coach Jim McNally did wonders turning around a shambles of an offensive line led by Teague's resurgence. However, the Bills still are in need of depth. Ross Tucker filled in admirably for a couple of starts for the injured Teague, but moved to the starting right guard position by mid-season. With the imminent loss of Jonas Jennings at OT, it remains a possibility that Teague will be moved back to tackle, the position he played with the Denver Broncos before coming to Buffalo and playing center. While not the most talented, Teague remains the most flexible option the Bills have on the front five. The Bills should be addressing all offensive line positions this offseason. We expect the Bills to be active in both the draft and free agency.

Starters-
RG Chris Villarrial
LG Ross Tucker

Backups-
Mike Gandy (Signed 3/4), Ben Sobieski, Mike Pucillo, Lawrence Smith, Jasen Esposito

By far the weakest position on the team in 2004 was at the interior line. The Bills addressed the loss of Ruben Brown with the signing of RG Chris Villarrial, who had a very solid season. The LG position was a mess, with Mike Pucillo and Lawrence Smith both failing to produce. Once a healthy Trey Teague returned to center, Jim McNally was able to weave his magic. Ross Tucker took over at the LG position and never relinquished it. Donahoe has his work cut out for him- expect him to be active pursuing help up front on the open market as well as in the draft. One step in the rebuilding process was the acquisition of Mike Gandy, a versatile OG/OT that -if healthy- can be a steal in free agency. Much depends on the outcome of the proposed Travis Henry for LJ Shelton trade with Arizona. If Shelton fails to materialize, and Jennings is lost in free agency, look for the Bills to rebuild through the draft. The Bills Recently inked mamoth 345 pound guard Bennie Anderson, a 14 game starter in 2004 for the Baltimore Ravens.

Starters-
RT Mike Williams
LT Jonas Jennings (Signed with San Francisco UFA)
Trey Teague?

Backups-
Marcus Price (UFA), Bernard Robertson, David Pruce, Dylan McFarland

The one position in a complete state of flux this offseason is at offensive tackle. On the right side Mike Williams is coming into his own as a solid contributor. However, his hefty salary as the 4th overall pick in 2002 doesn't match his production. Williams will need to make the next step under McNally if he is to have a future in Buffalo. On the left side, Jonas Jennings is as good as gone in free agency. With Orlando Pace and Walter Jones off the market- Jennings became the top OT - and he signed a huge $37 million deal with the 49ers.

If the Henry for Shelton deal goes through, Donahoe will replace his empty LT position for 4 more seasons. Marcus Price would have made an adequate replacement, but his contract has also expired. Recent acqusition of OL Mike Gandy may also provide depth or even a suprise starter. Trey Teague may be shifted to LT from center if all else fails.
