Bills sign UDFA Brad Cieslak- TE from Northern Illinois

by

1101s_dawid_fball_89_2.jpgOverall: Cieslak redshirted in 2000 and was a reserve tight end in 2001. He has been a starter since his sophomore season in 2002 and finished with 36 career starts. As a senior in 2004, Cieslak had 31 receptions for 384 yards and three TD's. Cieslak continued to improve with experience and had his best season as a senior. He has very good size and strength, and he has developed into an outstanding all-around blocker. Cieslak also has reliable hands and is a big target in the short-to-intermediate passing game. The problem, however, is that Cieslak has marginal speed and athleticism, which considerably limits his upside as an NFL prospect. Cieslak is worth selecting in the last couple of rounds as a potential backup TE that can contribute in short-yardage situations but he has too many athletic limitations to spend an earlier pick on him.
