Rivalry Renewed
It's rivalry week for the Buffalo Bills. They head to South Florida Sunday to play the Miami Dolphins. These teams have butted heads twice year since 1966 and some in the Buffalo locker room have been on both sides of this battle.
Inept Bills unable to find end zone
When the Buffalo Bills released Drew Bledsoe and handed the No. 1 quarterback job to second-year man J.P. Losman in February, the team vowed its offense wouldn't take a step back.
So far, no good.
Fletcher Wins Week 12 Game Ball
Bills Backers selected linebacker London Fletcher as the Turkey Hill Game Ball winner for Week 12. Fletcher continued his tackling spree by finishing with a team-high 17 tackles (11 solo) against the Carolina Panthers.
Season over for Bills TE Everett
The season for Bills tight end Kevin Everett ended before it even began as the team decided not to activate him to their 53-man roster.
Losman Lashes Out At Local Media
At practice this morning, J.P. Losman had some harsh words for the Buffalo media. Losman says he's tired of the newspaper articles that keep saying the Bills season is over and that they need to focus on the future.
Saban says Zach Thomas won't play against Bills
Injured Zach Thomas might want to suit up for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills, but he won't, head coach Nick Saban said Wednesday afternoon.
Media's criticism of J.P. Losman is unwarranted
Since the Buffalo Bills decided to trade up and grab quarterback J.P. Losman in the first round of the 2004 NFL draft, there has been a great deal of criticism. Bills' general manager Tom Donahoe has been criticized for trading his second-round choice in 2004 and his first-round choice in 2005 to the Dallas Cowboys for the pick. Losman, Tulane's former quarterback, was accused of possessing a cocky attitude and of being a laid back Californian who wouldn't succeed in the league.
Colts cruise as others jockey for playoffs
AFC East: Only one team is coming out of the NFL's weakest division. The New England Patriots (6-5) control their own destiny with a two-game lead over the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins (both 4-7).
Wilson supports Losman, Mularkey
Buffalo Bills coach Mike Mularkey plans to stay with young J.P. Losman as his starting quarterback for the rest of the season. It's a move fully supported by owner Ralph Wilson, who is looking for silver linings anywhere he can find them over the final five weeks of the NFL season.
Thomas expects to play vs. Bills
Early in his career, Zach Thomas' resiliency and youth helped him play despite injuries. Now, the Dolphins' middle linebacker will simply rely on his toughness.

Bills come up short against Carolina
The Buffalo Bills came up just short in their quest to knock off NFC powerhouse Carolina on Sunday, as they fell, 13-9, to the Panthers at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
Bills Positional Recap - Week 12
Starting quarterback J.P. Losman set a career-high with 197 yards passing on 16 completions on 29 attempts against the Carolina Panthers at home on Sunday.
Grading the Bills' Sunday performance
With Buffalo's disappointing week 12 loss to the Carolina Panthers in the books, it is time to reflect on specific players and how they performed.
J.P. Losman: Will Remain Bills' Starter at QB
Coach Mike Mularkey has indicated that Losman will be his starting quarterback for the rest of the season, according to The Sports Xchange. Despite his late interception, Losman played an adequate game under a heavy pass rush, completing 16 of 29 passes for his season-best 191 yards.
Bills have a chance to access future
Aside from Sunday’s 13-9 loss to Carolina, the most disappointing aspect of the game was the petulance displayed by Sam Adams.
Bills had Reich stuff going on in pre-game
— Before the game, former Bills’ backup quarterback Frank Reich was honored with the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Distinguished Service Award.
Bills report: Notes, quotes
--Jason Peters' third career start at right tackle was quite a test. The converted tight end was squared off against Carolina's 6-foot-7 Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers except for the times when the Panthers moved Peppers to the opposite side.
Bills report: Inside slant
Defensive tackle Sam Adams' already shaky relationship with coach Mike Mularkey has taken a turn for the worst.
Bills report: Strategy and personnel
QB J.P. Losman hasn't thrown a lot of interceptions, just four in 175 attempts this season, giving him a 2.29 interception rate that is third in club history for a single season.
Adams' absence a mystery
The Sam Adams mystery continues. It's hard to miss a 340-pound defensive lineman, but Adams was nowhere to be found Monday to give his side of the events that took place Sunday prior to the Buffalo Bills' 13-9 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Donahoe turned Bills into a joke
If the NFL season ended today - no doubt, an enticing prospect for some Bills fans - both Cincinnati and Jacksonville would be among the six playoff qualifiers from the AFC.
Mularkey says he has no problem with Adams
Buffalo Bills coach Mike Mularkey on Monday denied reports that he and Sam Adams have a personality conflict which caused Mularkey to deactivate the massive defensive tackle against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Is the problem the players or the coaches?
You know where I've always stood on this issue. I've never been a big coach guy because when it comes down to game day, the coach can't run on the field and make the play; the player has to. But after watching this team during the Gregg Williams and Mike Mularkey coaching stints, I'm starting to come around on coaching. This team is loaded with big-name guys, but they're not getting enough out of the talent. So maybe I'm starting to think coaching is the problem here.
J.P. Gaining Respect Despite Latest Loss
The scenario was unfolding like a dream; certainly a dream any young quarterback trying to prove himself in the NFL has had more than once. J.P. Losman said he had “no doubt at all” the Bills would drive down the field to a winning touchdown with the 2 minutes 10 seconds left on the clock as he lined up behind center Trey Teague at the Bills 29 yard line.
Ask Him Yourself: Mike Mularkey
Mike Mularkey: We're consistently trying to improve, and the offensive line is part of it. I believe every time you step on the field you either get better or you get worse and each position is held accountable. There are a lot of good things the offensive line has done.
Ask Him Yourself: Tom Donahoe
Tom Donahoe: Nobody in the organization is satisfied with a good effort or rebounding from a bad loss. There is nobody in our organization or our locker room who would ever say that. We all feel that we are accountable for the lack of success to this point in the season. We have five games to go and we are going to approach those games with the attitude that we want to win every game. At the end of the season we will sit down and evaluate where we are as a staff and as an organization.

Agent: DT Adams made out as scapegoat for Bills' struggles
Pro Bowl tackle Sam Adams believes he is unfairly being made the scapegoat for the Buffalo Bills' struggles this season.
Bills Lull Themselves Into Defeat
So it's come to this -- an opponent visiting Orchard Park in late November puts out an effort charitably described as half-hearted and still wins.
Buffalo loses a heartbreaker to Carolina
On Sunday, the Carolina Panthers waltzed into miserable weather in Orchard Park and took out the Buffalo Bills in a 13-9 nail biter.
Peters holds his own against Peppers
Right tackle Jason Peters had quite the test in his third career start as he matched up against Panthers Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers. At first glance, it appears Peters earned a passing grade.
It's time to rebuild with the youngsters
It has not been uncommon for Sam Adams to disappear as a defensive force during his three seasons in Buffalo. But on Sunday he took it a step further. After being informed that he had been deactivated for the Carolina game due to injury, Adams bolted the scene, stopping just long enough to inform a Fox sideline reporter of his departure.
Troubles continue for Adams
Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Sam Adams was inactive for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers, and he's not happy about it. Adams was deactivated because of a knee injury. He told coach Mike Mularkey he was ready to play, but Mularkey apparently didn't agree. Adams left Ralph Wilson Stadium before the game.
Motion Denied
One incompletion. One sack. One busted coverage assignment. If the Buffalo Bills had turned any one of those negative plays around Sunday they probably would have upset the Carolina Panthers.
Panthers' Smith has final say in battle between motormouths
They were at it all game, jawing and gesturing, making claims as to who would/could outplay the other. Had the NFL attached microphones to Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith and Buffalo Bills corner Nate Clements on Sunday, it would have had a broadcast for the ages, must-hear TV, and doubtless a million dollars in fines from the FCC.
Grading the Buffalo Bills
Running game
D
Panthers' run front was too tough. Willis gained 2.5 yards a pop on 21 carries and averaged 1.8 first three quarters.
Panthers' pressure denies Bills in crunch time
J.P. Losman was having a good day, arguably the best of his career. But he's a first-year starter, and the Carolina Panthers knew if they applied enough pressure on the young Buffalo Bills quarterback, he would eventually make a mistake.
Head-on Collision
The Big Picture: The Bills' postseason chances are fading by the minute. With New England's loss to Kansas City, Buffalo had a chance to pull within a game of first place in the AFC East but lost to the Carolina Panthers, 13-9. The Bills fell to 4-7 and remain two games behind the Patriots.
Bills' defense on field too long
Good but not good enough. That pretty much summed up the Buffalo Bills' defensive effort Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
Let's blame defense — again
Nate Clements wasn't willing to buy into the theory that what happened to the Buffalo defense Sunday was the perfect summation of what has gone on all year. "I wouldn't say it sums up anything, because our season isn't over," Clements said defiantly. OK, you got me there, Nate.
Buffalo falls short when it counts
J.P. Losman refused to accept accolades for the fact that he continued to make progress as an individual, saying, "I'm not thinking about that right now. Right now you just think about how it hurts."
Bills Two-Minute Read
Play of the game The only touchdown of the game came at an opportune time for the Panthers, Jake Delhomme's 3-yard pass to tight end Michael Gaines with 2:16 left.
J.P. squanders a chance for fantastic finish
Mike Mularkey looked into J.P. Losman's eyes, then nodded, as if to say, "Go get 'em kid."
The Buffalo Bills head coach had no doubt that his young quarterback and his teammates were ready to go seize the day against the Carolina Panthers Sunday.
Friction between Adams, Mularkey is a personal thing, says player's agent
An ongoing personality conflict between Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl defensive tackle Sam Adams and coach Mike Mularkey has boiled over, agent Angelo Wright said late Sunday night.
That was the reason Adams was ruled inactive and was not on the sidelines for Sunday's home game against Carolina. Mularkey said the reason Adams didn't play was medical — Adams has battled knee and ankle problems recently — but Wright said the real reason is personal.
Urgency of frustrated Moulds is gaining more momentum
"It's been frustrating because I've been through so many quarterbacks through the years and it takes time for a quarterback and a receiver to make that special connection," he said. "You look at guys like Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison. They've been together for eight, nine years. Everything is second nature for them." It hasn't reached that point between Moulds and Losman, but things are improving.
Buffalo Bills report card
Quarterback: J.P. Losman had just eight turns with the ball and put up nine points, going 0-for-3 in the red zone. He threw some big-league passes and showed a lot of poise under constant pressure.
NFL roundup: Monsters of the Midway are back; Panthers nip Bills
Jake Delhomme threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to third-string tight end Michael Gaines with 2:16 left to put the Panthers (8-3) on top in the NFC North.
Panthers get enough offense
Early in Sunday's 13-9 win over the Buffalo Bills, Carolina tight end Michael Gaines called attention to himself in the worst way.
Panthers' patience pays off
The Bills red zone troubles continued to plague them. They've now scored 11 touchdowns in 32 trips inside an opponent's 20 this season. In their three red zone drives Sunday, Losman went 0-for-3, while Willis McGahee managed only 7 yards on six rushes - and the running back was also penalized 15 yards for a chop block.
Buffalo Bills Surrender Late Lead, Fall to Carolina
Unable to find Steve Smith, Jake Delhomme settled for another option with the game on the line: third-string tight end Michael Gaines.
November 27, 2005
Delhomme guides Panthers (8-3) over Bills
Carolina’s stout defensive effort allowed quarterback Jake Delhomme time to show the Panthers can win without Steve Smith leading the way.
Delhomme leads Panthers past Bills
Jake Delhomme completed 20-of-27 passes for 191 yards with a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, as the Carolina Panthers came back to beat the Buffalo Bills, 13-9, at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
Bills OL Williams hurts back
Bills guard Mike Williams was carted from the sideline Sunday with a back injury in the second quarter of Buffalo's game against Carolina.
Panthers LB Morgan inactive; Bills missing three starters
Panthers Pro Bowl LB Dan Morgan missed Sunday's game against Buffalo with an ankle injury, while the Bills were without three starters of their own.
Bills desperate for upset to keep faint hopes alive
For most of the season, the Carolina Panthers (7-3) have been one of the best teams in the NFL while the Buffalo Bills (4-6) have been among the most inconsistent. But today's matchup at Ralph Wilson Stadium may be more competitive than it appears on paper.
Positive returns
The ball soars in the air and Terrence McGee knows there are at least 10 players from the opposition looking to take his head off. The Buffalo Bills return specialist tracks down the kick, usually aimed away from him, and while he runs to catch it, he gets a quick read on which hole to hit. Bang! The ball is in his hands. McGee makes one would-be tackler miss. Then another. And another. He avoids hitting a teammate, fakes out the kicker and vanishes to the end zone. If only kickoff returns were that simple.
Bills hope to close red-zone expressway
The red zone has been an expressway to the end zone for Buffalo Bills opponents this year.
The Bills rank last in the league in stopping foes inside the 20-yard line. Buffalo has allowed touchdowns on 68 percent of the opposition's trips into the red zone (19 of 28).
Donahoe has failed to fix Bills' pathetic line
The word for the Buffalo Bills last Sunday in San Diego was "pathetic." The two words for them today in Ralph Wilson Stadium are "Julius Peppers."
Bills let Fox slip past snare
John Fox harbors no ill will toward Buffalo Bills president and general manager Tom Donahoe. So what if he had to wait another year to be hired as an NFL head coach? Maybe it was meant to be.
Bills Q&A: Jeff Posey
Linebacker Jeff Posey is a quiet leader on the Buffalo Bills.
Playing the strong side (over the tight end) of the defense, he often sacrifices statistics, fighting through a lot of traffic to hold his ground on his side of the field.
Buffalo trip brings back bad memory
If the Panthers are going to right their ship today in western New York, they better do things a lot differently than they did four years ago.
Scouting Report on the Buffalo Bills
RECORD: 4-6, which is good enough for second place in a very weak AFC East.
COACH: Mike Mularkey, 2nd season (Record: 13-13 overall).
LAST WEEK: The Bills went out West and got hammered by the San Diego Chargers 48-10. Drew Brees threw four touchdown passes as the Chargers scored 35 points on five of their first seven possessions.
Panthers Roundup
When the Buffalo Bills went looking for a head coach after the 2000 season, John Fox was one of the names on their short list. The job went instead to Gregg Williams, who was fired after the 2003 season. "The way things have worked out, I'm pleased," Fox said.

Carolina Panthers at Buffalo Bills Preview
The Carolina Panthers will be looking to get back in the winning column after a tough road loss at Chicago last week, and gain some much needed momentum as they battle Atlanta and Tampa Bay for NFC South supremacy. Their opponent on Sunday, the Buffalo Bills, have dropped to 4-6 and are once again experiencing growing pains on offense with youngster J.P. Losman as the helm.
Bills passed on Panthers' Fox; the rest is history
Fox harbors no ill will toward Buffalo Bills president and general manager Tom Donahoe. So what if he had to wait another year to be hired as an NFL head coach? Maybe it was meant to be.
Panthers working on rush attack
The Carolina Panthers will go into their game at Buffalo on Sunday with the worst yards-per-carry rushing average (3.0) in the NFL. You don't have to tell the guys who do the blocking; they know it all too well.
Sly Fox bypassed, Bills fans left wondering
Until the Buffalo Bills become a legitimate playoff contender, you will always have some fans play the What If Game in regards to John Fox. Something along the lines of, "Where would the Bills be had Fox been named coach instead of Gregg Williams in 2001?"
Vincent says he knows why Smith is having big year
Troy Vincent feels as if he knows Steve Smith and the Carolina Panthers pretty well. And Vincent, a 14-year NFL veteran cornerback now playing in his second season with the Buffalo Bills, said that he doesn't understand why the Panthers have been catching criticism for supposedly throwing the ball too much to Smith.
4-6 Bills seek consistency
The Buffalo Bills face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in the first game of the rest of their season. The Bills are 4-6, the same record they had last year at this point. Now they are looking for more of the same.
Parrish relishes chance to help Bills
His rookie season hasn't gone exactly the way he had hoped it would, but you won't hear Roscoe Parrish complaining about his misfortune with the Buffalo Bills this season.
Bills had the plan, but Bears make it work
Buffalo had the right idea entering this season. Unfortunately for the Bills, the Chicago Bears are the team making it work.
Bills relying on Clements to contain Panthers' Smith
Little point asking Nate Clements about the recent past. The Buffalo Bills' star cornerback has no reason to reflect on last weekend, one of the poorest outings of his career, because there are bigger things on Clements' mind: Steve Smith's coming to town.
Bills Face Confident Panthers Sunday
The Carolina Panthers didn't get too high on themselves during a six-game winning streak that sprung them to the top of the competitive NFC South. They're also not letting a dismal showing in a loss to NFC North-leading Chicago get them too down.
November 25, 2005
Bills and Panthers look to rebound on Sunday
Sunday, the Buffalo Bills (4-6) will welcome the Carolina Panthers (7-3) into Ralph Wilson Stadium. Last week, Buffalo was dismantled by the San Diego Chargers in a 48-10 blowout. As for Carolina, their performance was rife with sloppiness as they were defeated by the Chicago Bears 13-3.
Panthers really not overly concerned about weather in Buffalo
For two weeks in a row, the Carolina Panthers have dealt with questions about the weather. The wind wasn't as bad as it was supposed to have been in Chicago, and now Buffalo may not live up to its reputation as a winter wonderland for Sunday's game.
Bills-Panthers Statistical Match Up
The Bills enter this week's game coming off an embarrassing 48-10 loss at San Diego last weekend; they're 0-5 away from home this season.
McGahee learns advantage of quiet confidence
Willis McGahee has never been shy about saying how good he is. But Buffalo Bills coach Mike Mularkey would prefer his star running back kept those comments to himself.
Clements ready to climb back in saddle
As far as Nate Clements is concerned, Sunday can't get here soon enough.
The Buffalo Bills' veteran cornerback is anxious to put an end to the memory of his poor performance in last week's embarrassing 48-10 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Buffalo Bills sellout streak intact
The Buffalo Bills streak of home sellouts at Ralph Wilson Stadium is at 10 games. Sunday's game will air on the FOX network, channel 29 in the Buffalo area.
Bills are no match for angry Panthers
The Carolina Panthers had won six straight games before a 13-3 upset road loss to the hard-nosed Chicago Bears last week. The Panthers should be in an ornery mood and primed to bounce back Sunday against the struggling Buffalo Bills.
Bills are aware of what Carolina brings
Carolina Panthers coach John Fox — who interviewed to become Buffalo's head coach the year before but was bypassed by Tom Donahoe in favor of Gregg Williams — doesn't profess to being some kind of genius, so don't waste your time patting him on the back for the decision he made during his first year as head coach of the Panthers in 2002.
Panthers LB, Dan Morgan doubtful against the Buffalo Bills
Barring a miraculous recovery, Morgan is likely to miss Sunday's game against Buffalo with a sprained ankle, which is probably good news for another former Miami Hurricanes' star, Bills running back Willis McGahee. Morgan is strong against the run and leads the team with 76 tackles and also has three sacks despite play the last month with a dislocated shoulder.
Peter King's Weekend Pickoff
Carolina Panthers (7-3) at Buffalo Bills (4-6): I don't mean to kill Jake Delhomme or anything, because he's my type of player and my type of person. But if he throws a couple more flutterballs up there, like he did at Soldier Field, even a team in the tank, like the Bills, will beat him.
November 24, 2005
Bills' OL Williams upbeat despite setbacks
Mike Williams believes there's no such thing as karma.
But the fourth player selected in the 2002 NFL draft has faced a string of bad luck with the Bills.
Bills TE Campbell questionable with hamstring injury
Buffalo Bills tight end Mark Campbell missed his second straight practice today because of a hamstring injury, and he is questionable to play Sunday against Carolina.
NFL Preview - Carolina (7-3) At Buffalo (4-6)
No one can accuse the NFL schedule-makers of showing favoritism toward the Carolina Panthers.
One week after playing in the harsh climate of Chicago, John Fox and company will travel to another of the league's non-garden spots - Buffalo - to meet the Bills on Sunday.
Buffalo's oversight is Carolina's gain
John Fox makes his first trip to Buffalo since he interviewed there early in 2001 for their head coaching position.
Scouting the Bills
Kelly Holcomb suited up as the No. 2 quarterback at San Diego last Sunday following a severe concussion suffered a week earlier against Kansas City. But while Holcomb appeared ready to play in case something happened to J.P. Losman, coach Mike Mularkey said he was happy he didn't have to summon the veteran off the bench.
Toyota Insures That Game Will Be Televised
The Bills today announced that this weekend’s game between the Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills has been sold out in time to lift the local television blackout.
Bills Notebook: Game sold out
Toyota, the official vehicle of the Bills, purchased the remaining tickets - roughly 1,600 - and the local television blackout of Sunday's game against the Panthers will be lifted. The game will be shown on Ch. 29.
No end to Peppers' talents
Julius Peppers might not be the first name mentioned in the debate over who is the best athlete in the NFL, but he's part of the discussion.
Bills Games on Thanksgiving Day
For millions of Americans, Thanksgiving Day traditions and family gatherings are inextricably linked to NFL football. Here's a look back at the games the Buffalo Bills have been a part of on Thanksgiving Day:
Fox was once a finalist for Bills' coaching job
The Carolina Panthers will play at Buffalo on Sunday. If things had been a little bit different, the Panthers could be heading north to play coach John Fox's Bills.
Carolina Panthers @ Buffalo Bills
After having a six-game winning streak snapped last week, the Carolina Panthers (7-3) will try to rediscover its winning formula against the Buffalo Bills (4-6) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST. However, the Panthers must do it at one of the NFL's most difficult road venues, Ralph Wilson Stadium, where the Bills have won four of five contests this season.
Mularkey sends word to McGahee: no bragging
Buffalo Bills coach Mike Mularkey has a message for running back Willis McGahee: play it, don't say it. McGahee's boast that he thinks he's the best running back in the NFL has come back to haunt the Bills. Since making that comment a month ago before Buffalo played at Oakland, McGahee has topped 100 yards only once in four games and has two fumbles. The Bills are 1-3 in that stretch.
Mularkey's quietly begun calling the plays on offense
With the San Diego Chargers scoring early and often in Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills, the prudent move, it seemed, was to keep the ball away from red-hot quarterback Drew Brees.
Spending Tuesdays with Mr. Moorman
Brian Moorman, clad in jeans, sneakers and his No. 8 Bills jersey, exits the elevator at the sixth floor of Roswell Park Cancer Institute and heads for the nurses' station down the hall in the pediatric ward.
Buffalo Bills report: Strategy and personnel
CB Nate Clements, the Bills' best cover man, will have his resiliency tested like never before this week.
Buffalo Bills report: Notes, quotes
J.P. Losman will start at quarterback on Sunday against the Panthers, coach Mike Mularkey announced Wednesday.
Buffalo Bills report: Inside slant
A year ago, the Buffalo Bills finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs by a single win. This year, with six games to play, they are already within a game of matching last season's loss total, and a brutally tough opponent visits Ralph Wilson Stadium on Sunday, the Carolina Panthers (7-3).
November 23, 2005
Playoff Focus Revised
They have a 4-6 record with six games to go but the Buffalo Bills are still talking playoffs. The difference this time is they have to treat the rest of their games as playoff games beginning at home Sunday against Carolina.
Bills' Losman to start against Panthers
Quarterback J.P. Losman will start his second straight game when the Buffalo Bills host the Carolina Panthers Sunday.
Panthers could be without Pro Bowl linebacker Morgan, RB Foster
The Carolina Panthers could be without Pro Bowl middle linebacker Dan Morgan when they face Willis McGahee and the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Panthers' offensive line seeks redemption in Buffalo
This Sunday can't come fast enough for the Carolina Panthers' offensive line. Their visit to the Buffalo Bills provides not only an opportunity for redemption after allowing eight sacks to the Chicago Bears in a 13-3 loss last weekend, but also a chance to ignite their sluggish running game against a Buffalo defense that's giving up nearly 150 yards per game on the ground.
Sam Adams Teams Up With Junior Achievement To Award JA Students Game Day Tickets
Thanks to the generosity of Sam Adams, All-Pro Defensive Tackle for the Buffalo Bills, a total of 40 tickets to the November 27th Buffalo Bills vs. Carolina Panthers game were awarded to 8th grade students at Ben Franklin Middle School and 12th grade students from South Park High School as part of an essay contest.

Bills sellout in jeopardy
The Buffalo Bills said there are 1,600 tickets remaining for Sunday's 1 p.m. game against the Carolina Panthers.
Ralph Wilson makes cut
Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson and former superstars Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed head a list of 25 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The board of selectors chose them from a list of 112 preliminary nominees, the hall said Tuesday. A list of 15 finalists will be announced in mid-January.
Week 12: Buffalo Bills vs. Carolina Panthers
The Bills come home licking their wounds after the shellacking at the hands of the Chargers last Sunday that all but killed their playoff hopes for a sixth straight season. The team isn't giving up, saying that they are alive being only two games behind the Patriots in the AFC East. The Panthers had their six game winning streak snapped by the Bears last Sunday as they look to get back on track. Carolina is the only team in the league the Bills have never lost to.
Donahoe focuses on immediate future
Tom Donahoe feels your pain and then some. You think you're disturbed by the Buffalo Bills this season? Well, let's just say he's a tad more frustrated. And if you're looking for someone to blame for the Bills' problems, he agrees you should start with the president and general manager.

Second year quarterback JP Losman made his fifth career start at San Diego last Sunday where he was faced with hostile pressure from the Chargers defensive front all day. Losman connected on 20 of 36 passes for 168 yards for one touchdown and one interception. The Tulane product made some effective plays with both his arm and legs on Sunday.
Plenty of good news over at One Bills Drive
Some readers have complained that I've been too negative when I've written about the Buffalo Bills. Not today. I'm going to accentuate the positives the Bills displayed in Sunday's heartbreaking 48-10 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Carolina Panthers' next foe: Up-and-down Buffalo Bills
Sam Adams is a big man with a hearty laugh who can find humor in almost anything — even the Buffalo Bills' dreadful road record. So it wasn't a big surprise when the defensive tackle broke into a cackle when the subject of Buffalo's 0-5 road record was raised Monday.
Reed, Aikman, White Closer to Hall of Fame
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman, perennial All-Pro defensive end Reggie White and former Bullfalo Bills wide receiver Andre Reed head a list of 25 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Ask Him Yourself: Tom Donahoe
Patrick Robinson (London, Canada): It looks like this year on the road that the team struggles defensively? What potential areas are of a concern to you and the coaching staff?
Tom Donahoe: Our team has had problems on the road this season. We became a very good road team at the end of last year, that has not carried over.
Ask Him Yourself: Mike Mularkey
Michael Cipolla (East Amherst, NY): Is it fair to say that this year has been disappointing considering what the organization expected from the team before the season? What are some things that you feel are positive points to get out of this year so far?
Mike Mularkey: I think it has been disappointing because we had big expectations. We are still not through with those expectations, and we still have six games to go. We are not out of it and we understand that right now is a six-week season.
Buffalo Bills still have chance in AFC East
The Buffalo Bills entered the contest just a game behind the San Diego Chargers, but their records told only a small part of the story. The Bills were 4-5 but appeared miles away from the Chargers at 5-4, a distance punctuated by Buffalo's winless road record and San Diego's skimpy average margin of defeat.
Rough homecoming for QB Losman, but he did make plays
Playing just two hours south of his hometown of Venice, Calif., the Buffalo quarterback endured a humbling afternoon as the Bills were pounded 48-10 by the Chargers in front of 65,502 fans, about 450 of whom were Losman family members and friends trying their hardest to root for their boy.
The offense is bad, but is the defense worse?
(November 22, 2005) — Leo: On Sunday in sunny San Diego, the Bills were alarmingly inept on both sides of the ball, but we've got to lay the blame for this loss squarely at the shoes of the defense. Come on. You can't allow touchdowns on five of the first six series, fall behind by 25 points at halftime, and then tell J.P. Losman and the offense, "OK guys, bring us back."
Former NFL player adjusting to job as TV commentator
Phil Hansen, a former North Dakota State star lineman who played 11 years with the Buffalo Bills, found being a broadcast commentator required some adjustments.
Buffalo Bills report: Strategy and personnel
PLAYER PERSONNEL NOTESQB: J.P. Losman's 30-yard scramble set up the team's only touchdown in Sunday's loss at San Diego. It was the longest run by a Buffalo quarterback since Doug Flutie's 32-yard scamper against New England in December 2000.
Buffalo Bills report: Notes, quotes
The 48 points allowed by the Bills were the most since a 49-31 loss to Oakland at home on Oct. 6, 2002, and the fifth-most allowed by Buffalo all-time.
Buffalo Bills report: Inside slant
The Bills can't stop the run, and now, apparently, they can't stop the pass either.
Bills Have One Coach Who's Special
Bobby April can coach! It’s so easy to be negative about the Bills after that 48-10 disaster in San Diego, I thought it would be more of a challenge to think of something good to say.
So much for Bills’ talk of the playoffs
Do you think, following Sunday’s 48-10 meltdown at San Diego, president/general manager Tom Donahoe and coach Mike Mularkey still think the Bills have a shot at the playoffs?
November 21, 2005
Bills big at home
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - Sam Adams is a big man with a hearty laugh, who can find humour in almost anything - even the Buffalo Bills' dreadful road record.
McGahee fumbles chance to back up talk
Willis McGahee spiced up the Buffalo Bills' matchup with the Chargers by insisting recently that he's the best running back in the NFL.
Too hot to handle: Grading the Buffalo Bills
Running game
F-Bills couldn't stay on field and were down, 28-3, before their first sustained drive. Willis' fumble hurt.
Passing game
D-Hard to judge J.P. because of so many screw-ups around him. Reed had drop. Pass blockers swamped playing from behind.
Bills are humiliated in latest road loss
I'll be honest. Not once, with the Bills trailing, 35-10, early in the third quarter, did I think back to the famous playoff comeback against Houston. I did entertain this horrifying thought: My God, they might give up 60!
MONDAY BILLBOARD
The Big Picture: The Bills a playoff contender? Are you serious? They had a chance to make a case Sunday in San Diego and were humiliated by the Chargers, 48-10. The Bills, who trailed, 35-10, at the half, gave up 28 first downs and were outgained, 478 yards to 202. They're 4-6, two games behind the Patriots in the AFC East.
Losman comes home to horror
SAN DIEGO - J.P. Losman had 450 members of his family and friends make the 131-mile trek from his hometown of Venice, Calif., to see his return to the Buffalo Bills' starting lineup.
Losman's response to his large cheering section: big deal.
ELECTRIC SLIDE -Chargers rip huge hole in Bills' playoff hopes
The San Diego Chargers brought back their throwback jerseys and honored Hall of Famer Lance Alworth on Sunday. Neither were good omens for the Buffalo Bills.
Buffalo scorched in San Diego sun
All around him in the depressed Buffalo locker room, linebacker London Fletcher's teammates were trying to spin this 48-10 loss to San Diego this way or that way.
Butler/Smith did it their way
From their two AFL championship games in the mid-1960s to the highly publicized transfer of power involving late general manager John Butler in 2001, the Buffalo Bills and San Diego Chargers are forever linked.
Embarrassing Bills might as well stay at home
SAN DIEGO — It seems unfathomable that it could even be an issue, but there was Buffalo coach Mike Mularkey, talking the other day about how tough it is for his team — all teams, in fact — to maintain consistently high effort.
The two-minute read
The Chargers' final possession of the first half. The Bills, who took a standing eight count after falling behind 28-3, regrouped and drove 55 yards to a touchdown capped by J.P. Losman's 3-yard pass to fullback Daimon Shelton. Instead of taking some hope into the locker room, however, the Bills — who left 1:23 on the clock — gave up their fifth touchdown of the half to fall behind 35-10.
Buffalo Bills report card
Quarterbacks — J.P. Losman's Southern California homecoming was spoiled in the blink of an eye as the Bills fell behind 35-10 at halftime. He was no match for the Drew Brees Show, especially in the first half (Brees: 265 yards, 4 TDs; Losman: 34 yards, 1 TD). To his credit, he battled hard under impossible circumstances and made some things happen, but received no help from the defense or a running game. Veteran Kelly Holcomb (concussion) wouldn't have done any better. C
Buffalo Bills no longer represent excitement
One remembers the Buffalo Bills as they were in the 1990s when they were making themselves parties to four consecutive Super Bowls, losing each time but also demonstrating what it means to strive and, being denied, to strive once more.
Losman learns a hard lesson
J.P. Losman is the quarterback of the future for the Buffalo Bills, although it's too early to say what kind of future that will be. As for the present, that was spelled out by Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer, who didn't even have to say a word.
Bolts down Bills: But Chargers lose TE Gates
If Antonio Gates is out for any length of time, Drew Brees certainly won’t be lacking for targets. Brees was nearly perfect in passing for 339 yards and a season-high four touchdowns, including one to Gates, as the San Diego Chargers routed the Buffalo Bills, 48-10, yesterday for their third straight win.
San Diego Chargers Zap Buffalo Bills 48-10
Everything was going perfectly for Drew Brees and the San Diego Chargers until Antonio Gates got hurt. Brees threw for 339 yards and a season-high four touchdowns, including one to Gates, as the Chargers routed the Buffalo Bills 48-10 for their third consecutive victory.
November 20, 2005
Brees Leads Chargers In Rout Of Bills
San Diego, CA -- Drew Brees completed 28-of-33 passes for 339 yards with four touchdowns, as San Diego showed no rust following its bye week by blasting Buffalo, 48-10, at Qualcomm Stadium.
Bolts jolt Bills
Decked in their powder blue throwbacks, the Bolts scored 35-first half points and cruised to a 48-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills on a day in which Lance Alworth’s jersey number 19 was retired.
Plenty of good news over at One Bills Drive
Some readers have complained that I’ve been too negative when I’ve written about the Buffalo Bills. Not todayFor instance, San Diego ran 68 offensive plays and scored touchdowns on just six of those plays. That means that the Buffalo defense successfully prevented the Chargers from entering the end zone 91.2 percent of the time.
Crowell's time is now
Angelo Crowell is accustomed to waiting his turn. He grew up in a house with a sister and five brothers, four of the boys older, three of whom went on to play college football. Angelo learned about pecking orders and patience early on in life as his brothers collected the accolades, leaving him to wonder how he might receive some recognition around the house.
Chargers, Bills looking to stay in playoff hunt
SAN DIEGO - The Buffalo Bills (4-5) are one game out of first place in the AFC East. The San Diego Chargers (5-4) are two games behind in the AFC West. Both look to stay in alive in their division races when they meet today in Qualcomm Stadium.
Five things to watch -Bills (4-5) at Chargers (5-4)
1. CAN'T STOP THE RUN: Buffalo has allowed more yards per carry (5.0) than any team this season and more rushing yards per game (150.7) than all but one team, and the Bills haven't even seen LaDainian Tomlinson. That will change today, and it might not be pretty for the Bills. Tomlinson is sixth in the league in rushing, fourth in yards from scrimmage and second in touchdowns, and now he's rested. The Chargers have won 11 straight games when Tomlinson rushes for at least 100 yards.
Receiving his due
Lance Alworth preferred a jersey number with a "3" in it. No. 23 was the one he had in mind, having worn it at Arkansas. But on the Chargers, No. 23 was the property of Paul Lowe. "Paul offered to sell it to me," Alworth remembered, "but he wanted $10,000 for it. I couldn't afford it; it was half my year's salary."
With some big bills to pay, Bolts try to close the deal
For those who don't wear lightning bolts and run into other large men for a living, this is Marty Schottenheimer's explanation for the Chargers' inability to sustain domination and put opponents away: "We're in the entertainment business."
A.J. Smith's allegiance rewarded
Loyalty means a lot to A.J. Smith. He proved that in 1999 when he was the Bills' pro scout, having worked himself up, and sometimes down, the NFL vocational ladder all the while slowly attracting attention as someone with strong possibilities.
Who's best? Willis to state his case
SAN DIEGO - Willis McGahee is not backing away from his stand on who's the best running back in football.
NFL dreams come true for ex-hoopsters Gates, Fletcher
SAN DIEGO - A few years ago, London Fletcher went to see his old friend, Jim Christian, coach of Kent State in the Mid-American Conference basketball tournament in Cleveland. Afterward, Fletcher was raving about Kent State star Antonio Gates, a tough, undersized power forward with the agility and instincts of an NBA player.
Hit-or-miss Bills will test Chargers' recent spark
SAN DIEGO -- With one respectful eye cast on the past, LaDainian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargers try to keep alive their precarious run toward a second straight playoff berth
Road blues not a solo act for Bills
SAN DIEGO — As bad as the Buffalo Bills have been on the road this season, it's not like they're alone in their travel woes. ...
Bills Q&A: Trey Teague
Playing the position that he does, center Trey Teague is always in the middle of chaos.
So all the offensive line upheaval that has gone on around him this season barely registers on Teague's radar screen.
Mixed emotions for Kelly
Standing by himself hours before the sixth annual Hunter's Hope Candlelight Ball, the former Buffalo Bills quarterback looked up in amazement at a two-story wall that was filled with pictures of his son, who died more than three months ago following a lifelong struggle with Krabbe disease.
Losman given the ball
While Kelly Holcomb's head has yet to clear, apparently Buffalo Bills coach Mike Mularkey got his together.
Williams quietly keys Chargers' run defense
The Chargers return to business this afternoon against the Buffalo Bills, ready to give the business to Willis McGahee. The Bills' running back isn't shy about spouting his position that he's the NFL's best at his position.

Names in the Game
Former Buffalo Bills QB Jim Kelly was never so alone - or so proud. Standing by himself hours before the sixth annual Hunter's Hope Candlelight Ball, Kelly looked up in amazement at a two-story wall that was filled with pictures of his son Hunter. "I was in awe that my little hero has been able to accomplish so many things in 8 1/2 years," the Hall of Famer said Friday night. "He's the most unbelievable boy."
Losman to start for Bills on Sunday
As expected, Buffalo Bills quarterback J.P. Losman was given the nod to start Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium by coach Mike Mularkey on Friday. Veteran Kelly Holcomb, who had started the past five games, missed his third consecutive practice following a severe concussion suffered last Sunday against Kansas City. Losman came off the bench to throw two touchdown passes and rally Buffalo to a 14-3 victory.
Spikes expects full recovery from tendon surgery
Injured Buffalo Bills linebacker Takeo Spikes is wrapping up two months of idleness following season-ending Achilles' tendon surgery and will soon begin a vigorous rehabilitation process. His message to anyone who doubts that he will be the same player again? Want to bet?
Chargers Notebook: Bills get a kick from their returns
It's the second prong of the Buffalo Bills' Big Mac attack that has Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer concerned. Bills running back Willis McGahee is no secret ---- he's the NFL's fourth-leading rusher, with 856 yards. But if the Bills point McGahee into the teeth of the Chargers' defense, he will be bucking helmets with the NFL's top run defense.
A.J. Smith doing just fine in San Diego
The large, framed picture sits among family photographs on A.J. Smith's desk. After all, John Butler was his football family. It shows Smith and Butler sitting in a golf cart on a football field somewhere, doing what the inseparable old scouts always did: talk players.

Losman to start at QB for Buffalo Bills vs. Chargers
J.P. Losman will start for the Buffalo Bills against San Diego after Kelly Holcomb missed his third straight practice since getting a concussion.
McGahee vs. Tomlinson
Buffalo's Willis McGahee means no disrespect when he refers to himself as the NFL's best running back. His numbers don't back him up, but to McGahee, it's more a state of mind: what's the point of taking the field thinking he's second-best?
Mularkey calling plays for offense
Mike Mularkey got the Buffalo Bills' head coaching job partly because of his adept play-calling as an assistant coach in Pittsburgh.
Concussed Holcomb still listed as questionable
Buffalo Bills quarterback Kelly Holcomb did not practice Thursday due to the aftereffects of a concussion and remains questionable for Sunday's game in San Diego.
JP Losman's anger fueled by deep well of confidence
JP Losman's comments about persevering on the bench the past four games brought to mind something Drew Bledsoe said he told Losman about quarterbacking after last year's ugly loss at New England.
Tomlinson is trouble for foes
The Buffalo Bills have faced a lot of great running backs over the years. On Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium in the San Diego hills, they will face the best ever in the NFL.
Buffalo Bills report: Strategy and personnel
QB Kelly Holcomb, who suffered a severe concussion against the Kansas City Chiefs last week, did not practice Thursday for a second straight day. He remains questionable for Sunday's game at San Diego, but it's looking less likely that he will start, and the team isn't sure if he will even suit up as the backup.
Buffalo Bills report: Inside slant
Quarterback J.P. Losman appears on the verge of being named the Bills' starting quarterback for Sunday's game at San Diego.
November 17, 2005
Bills need to figure how to slow down Tomlinson
If the Buffalo Bills want a win on Sunday, they need to figure out how to slow down LaDainian Tomlinson. A win would improve the Bills’ record to 5-5 and help them keep pace with the division-leading New England Patriots, but that won’t happen if Buffalo lets Tomlinson run free.
Kelly's ties to sports gaming on Internet raise eyebrows
Buffalo Bills great Jim Kelly has endorsed products ranging from pain relievers to phone service to pizza in his career as a celebrity spokesperson. But his latest business relationship has raised some eyebrows.
Losman is likely starter against Chargers
The onus will be on the Buffalo Bills' passing game to make some plays when the team visits the San Diego Chargers Sunday.
Moorman's big foot rewarded
Buffalo Bills punter Brian Moorman was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Kansas City Chiefs.
QB Holcomb remains doubtful
Quarterback Kelly Holcomb, still recovering from the concussion he suffered last Sunday against Kansas City, did not practice Wednesday for the Buffalo Bills and is listed as questionable for this week's game at San Diego.
Losman ready when call came
Indianapolis Colts star Peyton Manning said earlier this season that for a young NFL quarterback to get better he has to "play, play, play, play, play." But J.P. Losman, the Buffalo Bills' first-round draft pick in 2004, apparently has gotten better by "watching, watching, watching, watching, watching."
Buffalo Bills report: Strategy and personnel
QB Kelly Holcomb, still dealing with the aftereffects of a severe concussion suffered in last week's win over Kansas City, did not practice on Wednesday but does hope to get back on the field Thursday or Friday.
Buffalo Bills report: Notes, quotes
The Bills, who dominated the statistics against New England, found a way to lose that game. Last Sunday against Kansas City, the Bills clearly lost the statistical battle but found a way to win.
Buffalo Bills report: Inside slant
Quarterback J.P. Losman stole the headlines by coming off the bench to throw two touchdown passes in Buffalo's 14-3 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs last weekend at home.

Blogdom's Best: Buffalo Bills
It might not — yet — have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NFL and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs.
Moorman Wins Player of the Week Honors
Bills punter Brian Moorman has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for games played the 10th week of the 2005 season (November 13-14).
Moorman booted five punts for a 48.2-yard average with three of them forcing the visiting Chiefs to begin drives inside their own 20 to help the Bills earn a 14-3 victory. Three of Moorman's kicks traveled beyond 50 yards and another went for 49. His longest punt of the day covered 53 yards and he now has posted a punt of 50 yards or more in 56 of 73 career games.
Buffalo Bills' head coach is full of Mularkey
As usual, the head coach of the Buffalo Bills has been the epicenter of confusion down at One Bills Drive. After the team's 14-3 victory on Sunday, Mike Mularkey didn't want to commit to J.P. Losman being the starting quarterback from this point on. He kept going with the typical coach speak and claimed that he was more worried about the health of quarterback Kelly Holcomb.
Attention to Buffalo
It was a gamble to say the least. Scouts and personnel people around the league all acknowledged that the sky was the limit for running back Willis McGahee, but just four months after suffering a brutal knee injury, was he worth a first round draft pick?
Spikes on road to recovery
Takeo Spikes is still on crutches, six weeks after suffering a torn Achilles tendon that ended his season. But the Buffalo Bills' Pro Bowl linebacker is confident that he'll be back on his own two feet very soon.
Scoring woes putting pressure on defense
The Buffalo Bills' defense is a shadow of its former self in terms of stopping the run. But the object is to keep opponents off the scoreboard, something the Bills have done well.
Good news for Bolts: Buffalo Bills not road warriors
On paper, anyway, the Bills are in better shape for the playoffs than the Chargers, if only because they trail the Patriots by just one game in the AFC East. But, in reality, it's difficult to see the Bills making a run at the postseason considering they still have the Chargers, Carolina, Denver and Cincinnati remaining on their schedule. Not to mention the fact Buffalo is 0-4 on the road.

One for the team
Bill Austin turned misfortune into fame Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park.
Losman Better After Break
Tom Donahoe, Mike Mularkey, and many of Losman’s teammates have all said the benching was good for J.P. because he was able to settle down and regroup at practice. Not to mention that Holcomb did a respectable job moving the offense in his place.
Bills Security Guard Takes One For The Team
-- Bill Austin went to work Sunday morning as a security guard at the Bills game, by the time the game ended, his name and face were being spread around the country.
Grading Buffalo's Sunday performance
On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills defended their home territory in a key victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. With their 14-3 win, the Bills snapped a two-game losing skid and improved to 4-5. Most importantly, they stayed just one game behind the vulnerable New England Patriots in the AFC East race.
Buffalo fans get diet of mediocrity
On Monday evening, I stopped off at Hemingway's to get myself primed to watch Drew Bledsoe go up against the Eagles. Not surprisingly, I found my disheveled old pal, Rex Carr, hunched over the sports section and muttering angrily to himself at the end of the bar.
Williams staying at left guard
Mike Williams thinks he's better off at right tackle. The Buffalo Bills apparently don't agree. Coach Mike Mularkey said Monday that Williams would remain at left guard for at least another week.
Bills' depth contributes to victory
In this age of free agency, NFL teams have to rely on young players more than ever. Luckily for the Buffalo Bills, they have plenty in reserve. With starters sidelined because of injuries before and during the game, several Bills backups shined during Sunday's 14-3 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Bills report: Strategy and personnel
--WR Lee Evans is the only Bills receiver to catch a touchdown pass from all three quarterbacks on the roster (two from J.P. Losman, one each from Kelly Holcomb and Shane Matthews). Fifty-one of Evans' 69 career receptions (73.9 percent) have gone for first downs.

Bills waiting to decide on starting QB for Sunday
As expected, Buffalo Bills coach Mike Mularkey offered no insight into who will be his starting quarterback Sunday when the Bills travel to the West Coast for the second time in a month and face the San Diego Chargers.
Should J.P. Losman start at QB in San Diego?
Sal: Well, here we go again — another quarterback decision for coach Mike Mularkey. Based on what I saw Sunday, the decision isn't too difficult. Send Kelly Holcomb back to the bench, resume starting J.P. Losman for the rest of the year and live and die with the kid.
Williams to stay at guard spot on left side for Bills
The Mike Williams experiment will continue again this week as Buffalo coach Mike Mularkey said his beleaguered right tackle would again take practice reps at left guard.
November 14, 2005
Ask Him Yourself: Mike Mularkey
RJ Walker (Rochester, NY): What was the logic behind the play called on fourth and 1 around midfield? It worked last year but this was a totally different situation. Why not just hand it off to Willis McGahee?
Ask Him Yourself: Tom Donahoe
Rod Francis (Montreal, Canada): Can you talk about the players' behavior off the field? We never see any Bills players on a police report and they never criticize their teammates. It must be nice not to have to worry about a potential Terrell Owens incident.
Holcomb experiencing headaches
Quarterback J.P. Losman hasn't reclaimed the Buffalo Bills starting job even though Kelly Holcomb was experiencing headaches Monday, a day after suffering a concussion.
Bills' Crowell sets the tone
Angelo Crowell set the tone for the Buffalo Bills' special teams performance early Sunday. Crowell jarred Kansas City's Dante Hall, one of the best return men in the NFL, stopping Hall dead in his tracks after a 9-yard punt return in the first quarter. Hall didn't do much after that.
Losman Directs Buffalo to Victory
Within a span of less than 10 minutes Sunday afternoon, this season started to mean something again.
The Buffalo Bills were one loss away from moping through seven more regular-season games, followed by yet another offseason of conjecture that gets harder and harder for fans to will into optimism.
Bills' Williams finds his way to the bench
From right tackle to left guard to the bench. For Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Mike Williams, last week’s progression is surely one he’d like to forget.
Bills fans ejected by the busload
Eleven fans were arrested - and more than 90 ejected - at Ralph Wilson Stadium during the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Buffalo Bills yesterday.
Losman hits the spot
To hear Buffalo Bills quarterback J.P. Losman tell it, he was willing to do just about anything to get his starting job back. Yesterday at Ralph Wilson Stadium, the Kansas City Chiefs took care of the dirty work for him.
Defense comes on strong
The Big Picture: The Buffalo Bills stayed in contention in the AFC East with a 14-3 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Finally, the Bills played a complete game.
Guard takes one for the team
Not all of the hits in Sunday's Buffalo Bills game were absorbed by the players. Security guard Bill Austin, 48, of Wheatfield suffered a high ankle sprain when Lee Evans and Kansas City cornerback Eric Warfield tumbled into him on Evans' second touchdown reception midway through the third quarter.
Solid Buffalo Bills defense no stretch
The Buffalo Bills played a little rubber band defense Sunday. But once they were stretched to the limit, they always snapped back into place.
Special teams pull plug on Hall
Dante Hall is known as The Human Joystick. But there was no joy for the Kansas City Chiefs' kick return specialist Sunday as the Buffalo Bills' coverage teams stuck to him like flypaper
Grading the Buffalo Bills
Running game (D): Tough sledding vs. solid run defense. Netted 61 yards on 28 carries. Penalties hurt a couple good runs.
Passing game (B): J.P.'s TDs to Evans were great pitches and catches. No INTs. Pretty efficient. Pass blocking still is huge worry.
It's about time Evans' shiny wheels came out of storage
When you have a Lee Evans on your team, you don't have to take what the defense gives you. You can try to take whatever you want.
Losman makes most of another chance
He was watching when Jared Allen slipped through the Buffalo defense and delivered the hit. He saw Kelly Holcomb go down, and he saw that Holcomb wasn't getting up. Then J.P. Losman began to get ready, and he began to get excited. Most of all, Losman began to get mad.
Chiefs Woes at Buffalo Continue
Something about the Chiefs and Ralph Wilson Stadium just do not mesh. With an ugly 14-3 loss at Buffalo on Sunday, the Chiefs fell to 1-9 all-time at the Bills 33-year old stadium. Four turnovers and two missed field goals doomed Kansas City in the latest chapter of the AFC rivalry as the Chiefs fell to 5-4 on the season.
Bills very much alive in AFC East race
You don't need to tell anyone in Buffalo that the AFC East is up for grabs, especially after J.P. Losman came off the bench to lead the Bills to an inspired and inspiring victory over Kansas City yesterday.
Losman rewards Bills for 2nd chance
J.P. Losman made the best of his second chance, showing he deserves to be the Bills' starting quarterback again.
So now, wideouts like Losman
J.P. Losman is the flavor of the day in the wide receivers' corner of the Buffalo Bills locker room.
Winning a game the ugly way never looked so good for Buffalo
If you believe in tendencies and statistics, which the Bills don't, they weren't supposed to have beaten the powerful but obviously flawed Kansas City Chiefs 14-3 before 72,093 appreciative fans at Ralph Wilson's boxing arena. But this was the type of ugly win that makes up for all of those pretty losses.
Bills' defense, Losman are just perfect
Coming into this season, the overwhelming theory regarding the Buffalo Bills was that if this team were going to snap its 21st-century playoff drought, its highly-regarded defense was going to lead the way.
The two-minute read
Play of the game J.P. Losman's first of two touchdown passes to Lee Evans, a beautiful 33-yard connection in the front left corner of the end zone late in the second quarter.
Buffalo Bills report card
Quarterbacks — The Kansas City Chiefs will think twice before knocking Kelly Holcomb out of the game again. It was their worst mistake, as J.P. Losman came off the bench to knock them out with two pretty touchdown passes and just enough offense to win this hard-fought game.

Line Of Scrimmage: Bills Have A Dilemma
That J.P. Losman is going to start next Sunday for the Buffalo Bills is a foregone conclusion.
Bills should go with Losman
