Bills’ defense still not giving itself a break

The Buffalo Bills have still only permitted 33 percent of third downs to turn into first downs on the season, but like the GPA of a high school senior who got into his first choice college and is slacking through his final quarter, that number is close to plummeting. The group is in danger of falling to safety-school status: After failing to clamp down the Arizona Cardinals in the previous contest, the Bills kept up the downward inclination by allowing the San Diego Chargers to go a worrisome 7 for 11 on third down last Sunday.
