    A Fair Fantasy Assessment

Stay up to date with all the College sports news, recruiting, transfers, and more at 247Sports.com

He goes through all of the offensive players, but he also sums up the DST as well as anyone could.

    DST Buffalo - BUST
This unit was extremely good in two important categories last season -- interceptions and sacks. Specifically, they finished second in the league in both. However, there's no way a repeat performance should be expected. Safety Jarius Byrd is now in New Orleans. Cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore and Leodis McKelvin are on the mend following offseason hip surgery. Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, who loved to dial up the pressure that led to those 57 sacks is now the head coach in Cleveland. Worst of all, the Bills lost the heart of their defense when linebacker Kiko Alonso suffered a torn ACL during a workout. As a rookie last year, he finished third in the league with 159 tackles and paced the Bills in tackles for loss and interceptions. He finished second in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting, and now he's almost certainly done for the season. Playing the Jets and Dolphins twice per season may be good matchups, but the Bills don't have the personnel to exploit them as well as they did last season.

I couldn't agree more. The only thing that I would add to that is that almost no other defensive metrics suggested that the D last season was any good, including passing TDs allowed in light of the number of sacks and INTs.

"I was an integral part in the drafting process of EJ Manuel," Whaley said Thursday on NFL Network's Total Access. "I was the person that handled the draft process and setting up the board."

"We are committed. I want you to believe me when I say that," Whaley said of building around the second-year quarterback, per The Buffalo News. "I always tell you guys that I'll never say never because I don't want to paint myself in a corner, but when I do say something, I do it and I mean it and I try to fulfill it."

"We believe the addition of Sammy is going to be instant impact, not only to our quarterback, but to what our offensive coordinator can come up with game-plan wise and how defenses attack us," Whaley said.

Whaley on EJ Manuel: "We think we got a gem in this guy." (2:30)

"And as Mark says, if in three years maybe he's not [our quarterback of the future], then I'll be sitting there saying 'hey guys', .... anybody got a job for me?" - Doug Whaley

What a surprise, you agree with something negative written about the Bills?

That kind of commentary is the norm here. Someone posts something and the result is a litany of tantrums manifested from statements of apathy to tirades of insults by people that don't like what was said or referenced. Note that no one commented on the actual contents of the piece. (I have no idea what better days said as he's on my filter)

Silence here seems to be an admission of a lack of ability to rebut something.

In the end I only care about the total points allowed stat.

all others are meaningless if you get out scored.

And Schwartz has said that is the one stat he cares about as well.

The sacks will be there. Turnover differential for every team is a seesaw year to year.

I fully expect a step back defensively this year. Dareus is a disaster waiting to happen, Kyle Williams is another year older, Mario is Fool's Gold, Jarius Byrd is gone, our leading tackler is gone for the year and Pettine is gone.

how anyone can equate all of that to a status quo or step forward is beyond me.

Apparently you need to read most posts here.

Aaron Williams will supplant Byrd easily.

Mike Williams is set to step right in for Stevie and post 1,000 yards.

                              Manuel's going to explode.

Watkins is going to do what rookie WRs have only done in a single noted instance and propel this team into the playoffs.

Watkins is also going to put up numbers close to Megatron's, which even if he does would be 756 yards and 4 TDs in his rookie season, but somehow that's going to propel us into the playoffs.

Preston Brown is going to play like Kiko did.

Spikes is going to become a great pass-D LB.

Corey Graham is going to go from playing very inconsistently to becoming a top DB.

Spiller's finally going to make it through 16 games and become a 3-down RB.

Oh wait, I guess that Bryce Brown is going to do that and replace Jackson. Sorry.

I'm sure I missed a few. You should peruse threads here more often, it's very enlightening.
