for the morons who think Brown lost us the game Sunday

4 trips in the red zone and 6 points

One trip was his fumble, and if Chandler doesn't act like a defensive lineman on the play, we get the TD anyway.

13 points on offense with only one offensive turnover isn't going to win many games, even with a very good defense.

OC is not good and has made many very questionable play calls. Like having 2nd and 2 from 3 and calling two passing plays when they made some good runs in the drive.

I don't see anyone on the board defending Hackett.

I think we are all in agreement, Hackett SUCKS.

What's with the name calling ?

13 points on O won't win us many games but that fumble would have put us ahead on points and win us the game

Agreed, if Brown does not fumble the Bills would most likely have won that game.

But fumbles happen in football. It is part of the game.

Orton did a poor job executing a poor game plan by Hackett.

13 points at home is not acceptable.

Hell, 13 points on the road is not acceptable.

Leodis McFumble gifted them a short field TD.

Brown can correct his holding of the ball and is only 23. Showed a nice burst whenever he touched the ball.

Less than thrilled with the playcalling but we are not void of talent on the O side of the ball. Execution of better plays is another story.

brown has a history of fumbles coming to buffalo. Eagles fans said as much.

then in the most critical moment in the act of scoring, he fumbles.

seems like the coaches didn't coach him up from his biggest weakness.

the bills are winning games despite the efforts of the HC an the OC. The DC is doing his job. he may not be a hc, but he should be paid like one and remain as DC. and that's a crappy thing. marrone and hackett are tied together. But if they fire them, unless schwartz takes over, he'll be gone too.

i've always said this year seems to exist in a vaccum

It's not like he dropped the ball either. The defenseive player made a play that caused it. Sure it can be debatable if Brown should have kept a handle on the ball. Sunday's game lost on several fronts. I'm not placing the sole blame on Brown.

In discussing the football element to this NT what talent do you think we have?

Right now I'm seeing a huge disparity between the opinions of many here now contrasted with what those same posters said at the beginning of the season.

My position hasn't changed, at all, and I'm just curious what brings us here to where we are now on opinions that have differed from mine since the beginning of the season.

So I'm curious what elements of talent you think we have on offense?

I'll reiterate my position then which is the same as it is now.

QB: Manuel is a bust. We might win another couple games with Orton but he's not an answer leaving us high-n-dry for next season. Orton hasn't even played as well as I thought he would. He's terrible in the red zone. Flat out awful.

RB: Jackson is likely to be between less effective and injured. If he helps this season it won't be a full-time type of help and he'll have little value to us next season. Spiller is an overrated role-player. Been saying that for years. Brown may be a good depth RB but hasn't proven that he's a viable starting RB. Dixon is a short-yardage specialist. After Jackson there's not a 3rd down RB on the roster.

WR: Woods is good and may amount to a solid 1st-string WR but did not prove that last season. (he's not doing a whole lot more this year than last year). Mike Williams might be an OK starting WR but little more. (He hasn't done anything) Watkins would be good but not worth what we traded to get him. (more on that below)

                          TE: Chandler, meh.

OL: Good, second best unit on the team after the DL.

Watkins: In looking at rookie WRs with over 470 receiving yards and regardless of draft status, there are 6 of them. Watkins, Evans, Robinson, Cooks, Benjamin, and Hurns. Watkins and Benjamin both have 9 starts, Evans and Robinson have 8, Cooks has 6, and Hurns has 5. Four of them were 1st-rounders.

This is going to be a record-setting year for rookie WRs as a group due to the new passing rules.

Benjamin, Watkins, and Evans are all within 74 yards and 2 TDs of one another.
Benjamin leads that group with 7 TDs, Watkins, Evans, and Hurns each have 5 TDs, Cooks has 3, Robinson 2.
Hurns has the most TDs/start followed by Benjamin, Evans, Watkins, Cooks, and Robinson.
Hurns also leads in yards-per-reception followed by Benjamin, Evans, Watkins, Robinson, and Cooks.
Cooks leads in catch percentage, followed by Evans, Robinson, Watkins, Hurns, and Benjamin.

IMO that makes my point that Watkins is very good but not worth what we gave up to get him. If anything I think that plays out even more as the season continues. But we'll see. It's not about being right or wrong as some will try to make it, but it's about "where to from here." To me that includes, and particularly, the GM.

So going into next season here's what I see that we have:

                          A QB issue.

RBs: I wouldn't resign Spiller, he creates more problems than he solves. Jackson may not even be on the team but if he is it should be as a backup. Brown isn't the answer as a starter. So essentially we need a 3-down RB.

WRs: Set with Watkins, Woods is a fine #2 if nothing else. Hogan seems to be stepping up into what could quite possibly be a slot type of role similar to Welker and might be a poor man's Welker. He's averaging almost 50 ypg as a backup. Williams is uselsess and Goodwin is either hurt or inconsistent and a 4/5 tops. Seems like we need a WR and have only Watkins as an above average talent.

TE: Chandler has averaged just over 20 ypg in four of five games with Orton. The only game in which he had a good game was the Pats game but mostly on garbage time. He's OK but we can always use a better TE.

OL: We know the issues there. We seem to be good at the Ts and at C. Not sure why the G play doesn't seem to be what it was last season, I haven't looked closely at Urbik's play when he's played. But it would seem that we need at least one good G.

                          So, where to from here?

That seems like a lot to correct in an offseason to get this team to playoff level next season, at least to me. We have no 1st either.

                          Thoughts?

One trip was his fumble, and if Chandler doesn't act like a defensive lineman on the play, we get the TD anyway.

13 points on offense with only one offensive turnover isn't going to win many games, even with a very good defense.

OC is not good and has made many very questionable play calls. Like having 2nd and 2 from 3 and calling two passing plays when they made some good runs in the drive.
                              You've convinced me.

Now I'm actually glad that Brown fumbled the ball for a touchback. In fact, I hope he does it again this week.
