What do you make? Is there a staple that you bring to any party you go to? I am not a cook by any means, but I am wanting to make something different this year, but don't know what. Any ideas? Can be anything, food, a delicious beverage, whatever you make that rocks at a party.

I order out every year and get some chicken wings. Occasionally some pizza to go with those wings. Chase it all down with some beer.

Can't go wrong that way, and nobody really has to do any work.

buffalo wings, dill dip bread bowl, nachos & salsa, shrimp, beer;

main course-
usually 'something' and pasta (my wife makes the best linguine with shrimp, olive oil and garlic ever, no idea what that dish is called... but i love it. can't get enough of it).

this year i'll probably go with surf and turf... i'm going to give her the day off and do all the cooking. Not super jazzed about the game, and it's mostly her family coming over this year. Figure the guys can hang out by the grill. hope the weather holds. I can cook steaks on the stove i just don't like doing it.

Do you have a designated thing to bring? Like a dip, a dessert, whatever?

good question. it's been a while since i went to someone else's superbowl party... the last time i wasn't hosting one i was AT the superbowl. i have vague memories of bringing standard stuff like nachos and salsa. or bringing beer. in short all store bought with no prep time. if me and the wife were going to a party i'm sure she'd want to make something though

I think we're sticking to the standard fare this year...deli-prepped pizza and wings, and then italian meatballs, veggie tray, various chips and dips, and the traditional Super Bowl theme cake all made at home. No shrimp this time, though...my daughter and I are the only ones that eat it, and she won't be here.

Nope whatever I want. The hosts are getting it catered from Blue Coast Burrito

Homemade chili.

I love my pizza and wings, but they're my Bills gameday menu. Gotta go a little different on Super Sunday (even though I don't give a good God damn about the game this year).

This thread needs some SpikedL. His draft day menus were always a great read back in the day.

I'm breaking out the charcoal smoker and doing some BBQ-Habanero chicken wings. Got some homemade Habanero mash, mixing with a little Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce.

Parboiled the wings - 3 dozen.

Put on a simple little rub of garlic salt, pinch of paprika and pepper, and 2/3 cup of olive oil.
Smoke them for about 45 minutes each side, throw on the sauce and let them smoke for another ~10 minutes.
Move em up to direct heat for another 5 each side, let them rest for 5-10.
EAT!

Cheeseburgers done on one of those George Foreman grilles (mine dates from the beginning - before 2000. They do allow for fat to drip away, although IIRC they were tested years ago, results being so-so. However, they don't smoke up and smell up the house - a plus. You do have to fiddle with the cooking times and the amount of ground beef you use, to get the "doneness" you prefer. I generally use 4 minutes and when the timer buzzes, take them out immediately).

I slice up medium cheddar for the cheese - the Kraft or store brand you get on sale for $2 for 8 oz.

Also - a box of those T.G.I.F. potatoe skins, a can of wax beans, and reheated frozen spinach from yesterday.

Beer for the appetizer and the dessert and on and on. Beer being proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy - or so it was said centuries ago. :kid:

Also, I have a supply of Hostess Cupcakes in the freezer (you can't hurt them...they are like ham) to zap and consume if the the less ugly team (SEA) wins.

BTW...song by Ricky Skaggs, about the invulnerability of ham:

You mean the kind that tastes exactly like the plastic that it comes wrapped in?

Exactly. Revise your opinion, snob. Kraft has been a hugely profitable company since before you were born. Folks enjoy their products. We don't need the likes of you to admonish us.

I owned a restaurant based on Road Food (not to be confused with road kill).

LA Fish Tacos. Oklahoma Chicken Fried Steak. St. Louis Ribs. Low Country Boil (South Carolina), New Orleans Jambalaya....
