Is it just me or shouldnt Aaron, who has good coverage skills, be the FS. While the Dukes/ last year Searcy play SS. Ive always thought that your hard hitter, in the box safety, plays SS, and your playmaker is your FS. There is no denying A-Will can hit, but hes also a playmaker.

I think that the rules favoring the pass has killed the SS position. Teams routinely show 4 wr sets, defenses routinely show nickel and dime sets.

Safeties have become interchangeable with their responsibilities on any given play determined by their reads of the offense, so it really isn't a factor for most teams.

I think you're going to see Ryan expect both to be coverage and hard hitters and swap them liberally so offenses will not know anyway. In his best case, the coverage guy ends up covering and the hitter hitting. In worst case it gives up 15 yards a pop which will be less often than you'd think.

What I don't understand is why S isn't being talked about more as a 2nd/3rd rd pick for us. Duke ought be challenged.

I'll bet he will be with a second or third pick despite what people are talking about.

Everybody but Collins will probably still be on the board at 50, but I think the CW mindset of needing a lineman or QB has most leaning in that direction. Some have suggested that Ryan may want to go the DB route.

Maybe people do go something like the DB route. In order to go into the NFL. But really need a S.

I would have no problem with that.

2nd rd should be a center/guard. 3rd round should be qb. 4th should be a safety. Then BPA

No 4th so it would have to be a 5th. But, the way I have the needs ranked are: QB, OL. S

Whaley sold off this draft.

Boring.

Safety is in play, but there's already some depth with Graham being able to play S and Rambo will be back after a productive stint late I the year.

Plus Meeks will be back for TV reps before he assumes his spot on the IR.

Gross. This draft is going to suck.

Graham can play safety in a pinch and Robey was awesome as the NB under Pettine, so we've already got a good plan b.

Some positions don't have a plan a yet.
