No.. Dorsey had just left Carolina when Tepper bought the Panthers

No connection to Tepper, but he is connected very closely with Dan Morgan who is their Asst GM.

They played together in college and Morgan worked here before moving on to Carolina.

Tepper is another Pittsburgh guy, even have a Tepper business school in CMU named after him (money talks!). I don't know him but heard that he's one of those who's more on the control side of things. Was a minority owner of the Steelers and wanted more voice in decisions within the Steelers organization. Well the result is he's out of there and bought the Panthers. I feel he'll have the biggest say in the HC hire, just like he did on the Rhule hire.

That would be a big step for Dorsey after 5 games as an OC.

That said, I love that we have Dorsey's successor in the pipeline already (Joe Brady)

Just speculating here, but if I was an owner of a franchise whose been bad my entire tenure I’d be looking to make a splashy hire. That would either be by bringing in a known big name or getting the one that got away. I have to imagine there are plenty of Panthers fans watching the Bills offense thinking about Dorsey as the one who got away.

Not sure how much interest Dorsey would have in that job, but with the way our offense is scoring he’ll be among the hottest names in the coaching market this off-season.

I'm talking about next season of course. Nothing will happen now unless it is a coach not on a team right now.

Baker Mayfield is really bringing that franchise down. So glad about the single best thing that Beane has ever done: drafting Allen over Mayfield, Darnold or Rosen.

I nominate Bieniemy.

Well Beane is not given an option on Mayfield and Darnold, right? So his choice is pretty much Allen or Rosen. Lamar was dissed by everyone - even the Ravens didn't use their original first round pick on him.

Buffalo Bills (1962–1968)After spending two seasons as an assistant coach with the Boston Patriots (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Patriots) of the brand new AFL (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Football_League),[7] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Collier#cite_note-Pats-7) Collier joined the Buffalo Bills in 1962 as a defensive coach. The team won the 1965 AFL Championship Game (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1965_American_Football_League_Championship_Game) over the San Diego Chargers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Diego_Chargers) with help from defensive alignments that Collier designed. One idea he came up with was similar to the modern zone blitz (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zone_blitz); Collier's defense featured defensive line players moving back to cover pass attempts.[3] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Collier#cite_note-Maxymuk-3) Collier was promoted to head coach in 1966,[4] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Collier#cite_note-name-4) after previous coach Lou Saban (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lou_Saban) resigned.[3] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Collier#cite_note-Maxymuk-3) The Bills' best season under Collier came in his first year, when they won the Eastern Division with a 9–4–1 record, eventually losing to the Kansas City Chiefs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_Chiefs) in the AFL Championship Game (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Football_League_playoffs#1966_Championship).[8] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Collier#cite_note-8) After coming within one game of an AFL championship, the team slumped to 4–10 in 1967 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1967_American_Football_League_season).[9] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Collier#cite_note-9) After a poor performance by the Bills in a 1968 pre-season game, Collier set up a scrimmage for his team. During the practice session, quarterback (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarterback) Jack Kemp (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Kemp) broke his right leg, an injury that forced him to undergo season-ending surgery.[10] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Collier#cite_note-10) The Bills fired Collier after a 48–6 loss to the Oakland Raiders (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oakland_Raiders) in the second week of the regular season.[11] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Collier#cite_note-11) Sports Illustrated (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_Illustrated) opined that "Collier's fate undoubtedly was decided..." by Kemp's injury.[12 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Collier#cite_note-12)

Well didn't the Jets trade up for Darnold? Like not doing that.

Rams once fired George Allen in the pre-season.

Carolina is the new old Buffalo.

They gave Rhule 70 million dollars, and fired him after he went 11-27, and still owing him 40 million

Watch out for Frazier.

Easily the most likely Bills coach to be named head coach after this season.

Rhule is a train wreck but I fail to see the point of firing him now. The Panthers will blow either way.

I agree. It's not his fault they failed to give him any type of useful QB. They should have at least given him a chance to draft and groom a QB. Did they even trade one during his tenure (besides Corral this year)?

They are just a poorly run franchise and seem to have no idea what they are doing.

maybe that's what they're going for but it seems pretty weak. If you were a Panthers fan would you be appeased?

Better than hearing over and over and over and over again that they need to fire the coach. And story after story after story after story that there is no way for Rhule to survive. Better now than later.

There is little else the owner could do five games into the season.

Mayfield was a Hail Mary and it failed miserably. That was not necessarily a sure thing coming into the season.

I’m not defending them....the franchise is a dumpster fire. But, when your team sucks big time, the only thing left to do before starting a full blown rebuilding the next season is to fire the HC.

I’ve seen more than one Bills HC get fired during the season. It’s never enough but it staves off the torches and pitchforks for a little bit. :D:
