Why does DJ look like a starter in this league and RP look like a roll player? IMO Roscoe is a much better player but they are very similar. My question is, is it the coaching style or is it the player?

Isn't Jackson a foot taller?

Roscoe Parrish 5'9"
One inch taller.
BERNIAC!
I would compare DJ to Evans right now. That tells you a lot about how bad this team is.
DeSean has seriously studied the wide receiver position. He's worked with his brother, a former Chiefs practice squad receiver, since he was a child.
He also was trained by Jerry Rice.

I guess they are roughly the same size and are similar athletes. Both entered the draft early and they are both excellent returners.
However, Jackson is a much more polished WR. He runs better routes and knows how to set up a DB and then burn him deep. He has made a ton more big plays, both in college and in the NFL.
Just look at their college stats:
Jackson - 162 Rec for 2,423 Yds, 22 TD
Parrish - 81 Rec for 1,285, 11 TD
So Jackson was basically twice the WR in college.
Just because guys are similar athletes doesn't mean they play similar. WR requires so much more than just running and catching to be good. You have to know how to read a defense and set up your route. You need to have good techniques and make adjustments in a manner consistent with how the QB reads the defense. It isn't just running downfield.
Oh, and DeSean won the 1st ever Randy Moss Award.

Parrish cant get open, this offense doesnt use his skills properly either, he should be getting 2-3 screens or short passes in space a game
also have him run that stupid wildcat crap, or send him long once a game and actually throw it to him
Turk sucks
DeSean is ten times more talented than Roscoe. They are the same size and have similar speed but still Jackson has better hands and you people should not underrate how important for a WR is the ability to run routes.
my bad. I thought Jackson was a lot taller.Originally Posted by hydrosmak

Jackson is a more complete wideout, but that doesn't change the fact that our coaching staff makes no effort to utilize Parrish. Its ridiculous, especially considering that he is one of the most dangerous people in the NFL in the open field.
Mike Lombardi, a writer and former GM of a few teams, said that Parrish (along with Devin Hester) was the most underutilized player in the league.
Of course, our coaching staff doesn't even try to get our #1 receiver who makes $9 million a year the ball; why would they be concerned with the #4 wideout?
"Miami played pretty damn good today and still got their ass kicked."
Talent wise maybe, but skill wise there is no comparison between the two. Parrish has been in this league long enough but his route running is still sloppy and he occasionally has the mental lapse.
the only thing that i don't like about DJ is his attitude
:chug: BEER ME!!!
All year we would hear that Roscoe is a good route runner, in fact, supposedly teammates agree he is hte best routerunner on the team. So, is Desean Jackson really much better than every wr we have?Originally Posted by NE39

DeSean Jackson really showed me something today. At times he's been criticized (letting go of the ball before getting into the end zone against the Cowboys; the big drop late against the Redskins), but this rookie season was an unquestioned success. As a receiver, he had six catches for 92 yards and a touchdown that gave the Eagles their biggest lead of the game. But there was more. When the Eagles were trailing and nothing was going right, the cameras caught Jackson on the sideline trying to encourage McNabb. And of course, the forced fumble after the McNabb interception, which gave the Eagles the ball back. Great hustle, great concentration. Something to look forward to next year I guess.
Roscoe has the greatest change-of-direction abilities on the team. Why can't he run routes? What's really the problem with Parrish as a WR? I say coaching.
The guy usually is the fastest player on the field. Why didn't we throw the fly to him once last year. I mean, that's all they did with Hester at his WR beginnings and wow did it work. Coaching, imo.
Finally, I believe Trent and Parrish do not have great chemistry.
Parrish main problem is he can't stay on the field.

I mean it's not like we have an all-pro team full of future hall-of-famers who can't get the job done because of the coaching... we have some talent but overall we still have a mediocre team with mediocre coaches.
