Cheechoo makes 3mil a year and has 5 goals? Ouch.
To Ottawa's credit, at least they are able to cut the cord with someone who is underperforming.

Darcy is an idiot who never learns...I can barely stand listening to the guy talk anymore.Originally Posted by RockStar36

The one thing about that which isn't terrible is they have one game, Olympic break, one game, then trade deadline. So they aren't "pressed" to do it today, but it would be nice for them to be proactive for once.Originally Posted by Mikey82
Of course, they can just sit back and think they are good enough while New Jersey and Ottawa make deals to better their team for the stretch run.
You know what? Forget making a trade to get better.
Let's just shake things up a bit. Move any ONE of the "safe" players- Roy, Pominville, Vanek, Hecht, Lydman, Montador, Rivet- just to show this team that there is some accountability.
It's been awfully quiet across the NHL so far. I'm a little surprised by this, unless there will be a handful of deals announced right at 3. Maybe more teams are waiting until the read deadline than I originally thought.
Cullen would have looked good in a Sabres uni. The Sens add another Sabres killer to their stable.
How can the Sabres possibly get past the first round when the Top 4 will be the Caps, Sens, Pens, and Devils - (not nec in that order). I just don't see the Sabres beating any of those teams more then twice with their current roster.
Buffalo Only and Always.
The Chicago Blackhawks have dealt defenceman Cam Barker to the Minnesota Wild for defenceman Kim Johnsson and 2009 first round pick, defenceman Nick Leddy.

From what I can tell, that ends it. What a boring day. The roster freeze was a bunch of hype but in reality it was nothing as most GM's will most likely use the 2 week layoff to negotiate deals before the real deadline.
I can't totally fault the Sabres as it seems almost nobody made a move, but still, we now have roughly 2 1/2 weeks to sit here and stew and wonder if they will do something at the real deadline.
I know there is a roster and trade freeze, but can GM's talk to each other about possible trade ideas?

Yep.
Teams can discuss trades to their hearts content, but no trades can be finalized/announced until 11:59PM February 28th.
