Where have you been? They had shootouts back in '94.Originally Posted by Mikey82

It was 94 actually... they made a postage stamp in Sweden out of the winning goal.Originally Posted by Dozerdog
Mikey, they've been using the shootout in the Olympics for a long time, that was kind of the basis of bringing it to the NHL coming out of the lockout.
Sorry...but I didn't remember that. I was just a little shocked that the game went down to a shootout. What happens in a gold medal round? Would it really come down to a shootout for the gold medal? Or does it revert to Overtime, like the NHL does?
Did you just read what was posted???? Forsberg won the gold for Sweden in a shootout in 94!Originally Posted by Mikey82
By the way, the two late games last night are exactly why Olympic hockey is great to watch (for those who have been constantly *****ing about it).
Oops. Thanks BMN!
Just to clear things up...
In the preliminary games, it's a 5 minutes OT and then shootout.
In the playoff games, it's a 10 minute OT and then shootout.
In the gold medal game, it's a 20 minute OT and then shootout.
That's what I was wondering. I figured there would be some kind of difference between the rounds, but wasn't positive.Originally Posted by RockStar36
