My wallet is also happy that Eichel didn't score.

Eichel isn't even a disappointment. He's been producing. He has 41 points in 64 games. Even of he slows down and gets 9 points in the last 18 games, he hits 50. 50 points for a rookie teenager on a team thin with forward talent.
I don't know what world that's a disappointment, but not every rookie is Crosby or ovechkin. These kids have to actually learn the game and it takes time.

Round One--Advantage, McDavid. Too bad these two ended up in different conferences, it would be a lot more fun to track their careers if they faced each other more often.

I was pretty pissed when Edmonton got the first overall pick last year. I might lose my mind if they get the first overall again this year.
That said, Eichel does look a little lost at times defensively. Has has been struggling lately too and I think it is because of getting the better players playing against him. I think this will only make him better in the long run. I'm going to love watching this guy for the next 20 years hopefully.

Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.
I was a little unsure what you meant as well. I had thought it was about Reinhart but didn't understand the part about not taking him first overall. Now that I see you were talking about Turgeon, I understand. Turgeon was a pretty good player too though and maybe on about the same level scoring wise as Shanahan. Though I suspect the people of Buffalo would have been much happier with the style of game Shanahan played.

Ha, you realize that some posters on here might not have seen either play, and there is a good chance that some might not know Turgeon played for the Sabres or that we had the opportunity to take Shanahan?

your tears are for me, then. I wish I could have seen 70's hockey. the skill is more on display then,

I'm all in on the sabres having traded for Eichel and O'Reilly in my keeper league.
I think that's right. For every guy like Perreault or even Luce and Ramsey, there were guys like Randy Wyrozub, Billy Inglis, and Butch Deadmarsh. Those guys make John Scott lok like an all-star MVP. ;-)
In today's game, Perreault probably wouldn't net 38 goals in his rookie year.
