"I was an integral part in the drafting process of EJ Manuel," Whaley said Thursday on NFL Network's Total Access. "I was the person that handled the draft process and setting up the board."

"We are committed. I want you to believe me when I say that," Whaley said of building around the second-year quarterback, per The Buffalo News. "I always tell you guys that I'll never say never because I don't want to paint myself in a corner, but when I do say something, I do it and I mean it and I try to fulfill it."

"We believe the addition of Sammy is going to be instant impact, not only to our quarterback, but to what our offensive coordinator can come up with game-plan wise and how defenses attack us," Whaley said.

Whaley on EJ Manuel: "We think we got a gem in this guy." (2:30)

"And as Mark says, if in three years maybe he's not [our quarterback of the future], then I'll be sitting there saying 'hey guys', .... anybody got a job for me?" - Doug Whaley

If BB gets some blocking he can do some serious damage.

I get the sense from his style he could thrive in a Shanahan coached offense. 1 cut runner who's very explosive.

That being said he's the kind of runner that needs a good lane to build up that speed and power and then he will be tough to stop. If our line doesn't block well enough though he won't be able to generate enough momentum to get his yards.

Really? I think it's pretty obvious as to why. FJ is the elusive style back that can do it all. CJ is our speedster. Dixon is supposed to be our power back. BB is alot like CJ - but cheaper. It's no surprise why they would have liked to shop CJ and trade him.

Kinda odd to include a fumble in his highlight video.

no offense finding a new rb is little different then finding a qb that being said every rb on our roster needs to go next year jackson (but hes old)can stay but the rest must go

That was hardly my point. That video is all from Brown's play against three teams primarily if not exclusively, because there's nothing else out there.

You can make a "highlight video" of any player pretty much. That doesn't mean that they're good. How intelligent is it do you think to take a look at the best few percent of a players' plays and then attempt to use them to form an average expectation? Does that make reasonable sense to you?

Have you looked at Brown's history? No one was champing at the bit to get Brown. The Eagles viewed him as expendable. In college he played one season with a Big-Ten team as a backup and had one good game against an 0-12 team in the worst conference in the NCAAs in a 63-7 romp in a game where he had only 104 yards of 380 rushing for his team.

If Brown amounts to anything it'll be the cinderella story of the ages. I'm sure he'll have a good game or two, but expecting him to pick up the slack right now is ridiculous. There's no basis for it, none.

Dixon isn't great, but he seems perfectly suited for the A-gap pounding that Hackett wants to run.

4 fumbles in 117 carries in 2 seasons?

if he doesn't do that, i'll take his 4.6 yards a carry with limited long run breakouts.

Quote from Dixon on Brown: "you all need to get his autograph now."...before he plays.

Re: a look at bryce brown

Unfortunately Bryce Brown is fighting both his teamates AND the trade that brought him here for playing time. I remember during the draft the Bills agreed to basically a 4th round for Bryce Brown. But the Bills traded away their own 4th round pick in the Watkins deal and the pick they got from 49ers is a conditional 4th round 2015. So more complex escalators added based on Stevie Johnson's play and Bryce Brown's play etc.

Well for what it's worth, he had no fumbles last year. They all came in his rookie season.

    LOL

Yeah, and coincidentally his only season with double-digit carries in any given game was his rookie season.

I don't know, might be a clue in there as to why he wasn't regarded as much over in Philly. What do you think?

In the meantime, just look at Tanner's highlight video, it puts Brown's to shame. So I guess that Tanner is the next McCoy.
