Also some of these same players weren't junk under previous coaching staffs. Something here isn't adding up.
Their limitations were recognised and covered by previous coaching staff and their previous QB. They didn't give up many sacks because they had a QB who rarely held the ball for more than 2 seconds.

They had a play caller who was far better at keeping a team off balance in the run game, who knew what misdirection meant, and knew how to set up a D.

As far as something not adding up...who was it that made some of these decisions on how to use people? Was it Morris or Marrone?

For instance, the move of Pears to guard.

He's not a guard, never was, never will be. He's a guy that would get bowled back by smaller DE's when he played tackle, but had one thing going for him...he could at least get in someone's way long enough for Fitz to get rid of the ball. But having the power to hold off bigger DL's is not, and never was an area of strength with him.

And yet, he was moved to guard.

    Who made the call?

    http://www.buffalorumblings.com/bill...at-right-guard

That really sounds like Marrone making the call. I could be wrong..I'm not in the meetings...but I have a hard time believing he'd let his OL coach overrule him in a decision like that. And he also doesn't sound like he's covering for someone else's decision.

Morris has a long track record of producing lines with a very good running game, even if you ignore the Adrian Peterson years in Minny.

Hackett...well...he has no track record...and has shown some inexcusable deficiencies in calling a running game.

You want to make Morris the scapegoat fine...

but this offense doesn't get better if the people running it are left intact.

    This is a great point.

And just one more reason Marrone should be fired.

Judging by the fact Whaley went out and traded for Mike Williams who obviously Marrone still has problems with from Syracuse days makes me wonder how much input Marrone has on any of the personnel.

First off, he has gotten us this close to a playoff. Something that NO coach has done in 15 years. I know almost doesn't count but are you willing to go back to 5-6 wins and another rebuilding year with a new HC?

2nd Freddie J says they like playing for him.

He deserves 1 more year just like Gailey and Jauron.

Rex's players like playing for him as well.

And they played much better against the Pats* yesterday than the Bills did against the Raiders.

If the Bills REALLY like playing for Marrone, they should have shown up yesterday & played.

Re: Does Marrone Deserve to Stay

id say marrone should stay another season

priority one is fixing the oline, they probably need two new starters there and a good rookie center to get ready to replace wood asap who is overrated

priority two of course is finding a good qb. orton can give you acceptable baseline production with a better line. bills need to see if they can get another promising young guy in the system, either a very young veteran or at least an early draft pick

improving the oline should make them a pretty good playoff contender next year. with luck they will find their qb answer, but if not then get thru the season and try again with a first rounder in 16

Our OL cost us games this year plain and simple. In fact this thread should also address whether Whaley should stay since he was clueless to think Chris Williams and no REAL plan at RG and RT were a solution for a team desperate for playoffs.

IMO both should go. And I say that with a lot of reluctance but I'm done with emotional views as a fan.
Well actually I don't like him.
    But I wouldn't fire him.
I would hang him from a tree and put a lit bomb in his mouth.
Or tie him to a team of wild horses who drag him 40 miles by the tongue.
The guys a fraud as is his love child OC.
They are the reason we are not in the playoffs IMO.

    No.

The whole management of the Bills needs to go!!! ASAP!!!

Paula needs to step and get this team on a winning track. There is NO WAY to do that by hanging on to the same dopes that brought us the EJ and Orton debacle.

Why would you want another (wasted) year of Gailey, Jauron or dufus Doug?
    Makes no sense.

Marroon is a narcissist of epic proportions and must be replaced. I expect they will go with what people are saying here...I say get the guy that's going to take you to the next level NOW though and Marroon isn't going to be able to do that. So, we will be looking for that guy after next season I guess. I still hope this phantom consultant comes in and wakes Pegula up to the fact that marroon makes some crippling choices and that is eerily similar to having bad QB play--you can't win with them happening!

then that much of a disconnect from to GM to HC means something must change

    That's the value of experience.

You don't know that. Bill Belichek failed at Cleveland, went back to being a DC, before he got another shot.

Fire everyone and you freak out the team. No one will know what to expect and will be looking to get out of Dodge.

Schwart2 would provide continuity and establish that the new organi2ation rewards success.

    Depends on the drug.

    Some make you sleepy.

    Some keep you awake.

Others impair judgement, hence the warning "do not drive or use machinery while using this drug".
