Since Elway left Shanahan has a couple 9-7, couple 10-6, an 11-5 and a 13-3 season in Denver. So to say he hasn't won a championship since Elway left would be accurate, but to say he hasn't done anything would be 100% false.

So out of his 10 seasons without Elway he compiled 6 seasons of 9 or more wins, 2 seasons at .500 and 2 losing seasons the worst was a 6-10 season.
