Granted it's too early for anything to be conclusive but remembering my reasoning and logic at this point, I wanted to take a look back at a draft I spent way too much time on, with who I would have picked and when if the draft had played out as it did. Anyone who looked at my mocks in the appropriate thread will find this consistent.
R1 : DE Shaq Lawson. Didn't think he'd be there, would have grabbed him at once, end of my DE worries. But he's broken ! I still would have taken him. Result : Airball.
R2 : DT Jarran Reed. Ragland was sitting there, sure, but I had a thing about flexible, big body Reed. If he's still there, I couldn't help myself. Result : They say he's a bulldozer, wreaking havoc and eating up blockers. Enough said.
R3 : G Vadal Alexander. He plunged to 7th round, read that if Raiders keep 10 ol, he's a lock because he's improved so much. Result : Being a lock if they keep 10 ol is a swing and a miss for round 3.
R4-1 : WR Rashard Higgins. Dropped into the 5th. Result : Hue Jackson praises his consistency and soft hands. Too high maybe, but he'd have ended some of the WR concerns pretty quick.
R4-2 : QB Cardale Jones. Yes, I'd have taken him if available right there. Result : Airball.
R5 :ILB Scooby Wright. OT Joe Haeg (ankle injury, week to week) went just previous. Result : Wright looks like special teams and is behind Tank Carder on the depth chart. Swing and a miss for either.
R6-1 : FB Glenn Gronkowski. FB and h-back, sure to displace Felton. Result : Swing and a miss.
R6-2 : SS Jayron Kearse. I said I ruled out safeties in the mock thread. If Kearse was still sitting there I'd have forgotten it. Result : Said to be working his way up the depth chart toward starting. Airball atm.
