    Year: 1999

    Position: 10
    Salary History
    2004 535000.00

    2006 5500000.00
    2007 6500000.00
    2008 8000000.00
    2009 8000000.00
    2010 8000000.00
SB would be split over the length most likely. Couldnt find the SB.

If I read this right, we can get Nate back to a long contract, backloaded and he could be had for maybe 4-5 mil 2006, 5-6 2007, then 8-9 per each following.

But McAllister is? again this is in year 4 we'll say in 2010 not next year.

Clements is a top 5 CB and unfortunately thats the going rate.

This team has suffered from "you get what you pay" for for long enough. Pay Clements and lets move on. let him go and we head even farther from the SB!

    McAllister isn't either.

Let Clements go and use the money to sign offensive linemen.

Cant disagree except who is our other CB?

Sign Steve Hutchinson, and LeCharles Bentley. Start Peters at LT, and restructure M Williams? OK. Then spend your top 10 1st rounder on Jimmy Williams, or Ngata.

I hope so. I don't want to see TD just let Nate Clements go, without getting anything.

I hope he pulls another Peerless Price type trade.

    Simply.....no

    Why?

well, starting in 2006, signing bonuses can only be prorated (spread out over 4 yrs). When McAlister signed his deal in 2004, signing bonuses could be spread out over 6 yrs. The changes of proration are due to the fact the CBA states that prorations cannot extend more than 2 yrs past an uncapped yr (2007)

Bills, or any team for that matter, will need to be very creative. Most likely, the Antoine Winfield contract will be used as a model. He rec'd his bonus money as a roster bonus and it all counted on 2004 cap instead of spreading it out over a number of yrs. Bills could do that if they wish to take a huge cap hit in 2006

Best thing to hope for is the CBA agreement to get signed and agreed upon before the offseason begins.
