    Who is Joe Odom

And is he better than either Watson or Posey?

From Vcoach we signed him (former bear) to replace them at LB.

    Re: Who is Joe Odom

He's a 4 year backup LB and a pretty good special teamer. Don't we have several of those kind of guys at LB already?
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Wait. Wasn't he in The Longest Yard 2 ? Marv scouted him at the matinee.

    Re: Who is Joe Odom

Personally I think this is great, he knows the system (played 3 years in it) and can help shore up some potential problems we can have.

Buffalo has signed linebacker Joe Odom, who was waived by Chicago earlier this week. Odom's was drafted by the Bears in the sixth round of th 2003 draft.
Odoms ranked fourth on the Bears in special teams tackles with 13. Odoms was the first rookie linebacker to lead Chicago in tackles - in his first career start - since Brian Urlacher did it in the 2000 season.

The Bills continued to make moves with their linebacking corps. After releasing veteran Jeff Posey and waiving Courtney Watson, Buffalo signed former Chicago linebacker Joe Odom off waivers Wednesday.
The four-year veteran was waived by the Bears on Monday and the Bills quickly snatched him up with other teams interested in his services. A former sixth-round pick of Chicago in 2003 when Dick Jauron was the team's head coach, Odom had been a major contributor on the Bears special teams units and was primarily a reserve on the strong side and weak side in Chicago's linebacking corps.
Bills defensive coordinator Perry Fewell also had some input about Odom having spent the past season as defensive backs coach with the Bears.
"He's a tough guy with athleticism," said Fewell. "He has played all three linebacker positions in his time in the league, and he's familiar with our defensive system so he should be able to hit the ground running."

    Re: Who is Joe Odom

I was interested in him as a potential Bills draft choice back when he was in college (Illinois I think). He's got very good speed for the Tampa 2 defense and he knows they system. The knock on him is the same as it was in college. He has injury issues. The Bills whom this affects most is Mario Hagan IMO. Hagan is already slipping on the draft chart because he's just too slow for the Tampa 2. His long value to the Bills at this point is as a special teamer. Odom has speed, knows the Tampa 2 and is a good special teamer.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

Seems like a lateral move on paper.

    Re: Who is Joe Odom

Let's put it this way: he's proven in the system. He has started some with this system. That's more than can be said for any other linebacker the Bills have at this point. He's probably not a threat to start for the Bills, but he does give them some security while some of the younger guys have a chance to mature some. I think guys like Ellison and Hunter represent the near future in terms of the Bills depth at outside linebacker, but if they need a guy to step in this season, especially early because Spikes or Crowell gets hurt, Odom is probably a better option than anything else the Bills have.

    Re: Who is Joe Odom

    Interesting:

"Odom, who was signed off waivers by the Bills, also had a few other teams put a claim in for him including Washington, but the Bills had priority based on their poorer regular season record in 2005."

If Greghead has interest in him, I don't mind bringing him in for a closer look
