Fins hire Adam Gase as HC

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14...ome-head-coach

The Miami Dolphins have hired Adam Gase to be their next head coach, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Dolphins haven't officially announced the hire, but did tweet a greeting to Gase on Saturday.
    Welcome to Miami, Adam Gase!

Gase, the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, becomes Miami's fourth consecutive hire with no prior head-coaching experience, joining former Dolphins coaches Joe Philbin, Tony Sparano and Cam Cameron. He is considered a "quarterback guru," which is highly coveted by Miami. He did good work with quarterback Jay Cutler this season and Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow in Denver in previous seasons.
The Dolphins were looking for someone who can get the best out of fourth-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill in 2016 and beyond. Tannehill was given a $96 million extension last year but has been inconsistent with a 29-35 record as a starter.
I'm not sure how I feel about him TBH. OC for the highest scoring offense of all time is a pretty big accomplishment, but he won't have remotely the same talent level in Miami.

He needs a franchise QB. Just like 25 other head coaches

Another Dolphins hire with no head coaching experience, seems to be the norm for them.

Why they gave Tannehill 96 Mil boggles the mind. Now the hire is all about saving him.

I'm relieved at their expected DC hire. Vance Joseph, Bengals DB coach. Couple staff possibles mentioned also.

No Schwartz and no fearsome names in there.

Re: Fins hire Adam Gase as HC

Gase was one of the surprise non-hires at head coach last year. He's supposedly done good work with Peyton Manning and Cutler. The Dolphins need more out of their QB. They felt Gase was the right guy. Certainly Marrone does not have that type of reputation.

Because otherwise they would have had to use someone like Matt Cassel. College football is ruining the position of QB. Remember when three big, strong armed guys from Louisiana named Ferguson, Jones, and Bradshaw came out in to the NFL?

6 of one, half dozen of the other. No clue who Marrone would have gone for as DC, but so far what Gase appears to be going for doesn't look that threatening.

It's more like 30 million. Very little guranteed money and and opt out clause after the 2016 season

Re: Fins hire Adam Gase as HC

This is like the Philbin hire all over again
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Agree. Philbin had been quite successful before Miami. He came in with no head coaching experience and people said that he may turn out to be a good coach. So much of these type of hire's success eventually depends on the level of play from the QB they get. Arizona, for instance, comes together nicely under a resurgence of an aging Carson Palmer. I don't ever remember that guy being as good as a Cincinnati Bengal.

They were giving Philbin all sorts of credit for Aaron Rodgers too.

News: Gase hires Cincinnati Bengal secondary coach Vance Joseph as DC. He brings with him LB coach, and Jim Schwartz disciple, Matt Burke.
