I did. Just wanted to check what Reed and Mahomes would change after the Bills showed them something different. Also I'm pretty certain we are going to see them again, hopefully in Buffalo - imagine Mahomes has played post season when he started (after sitting out for a year) and has NEVER played an away playoff game ever.
Also 49ers had the #1 defense so I thought they would give Mahomes a game. Boy was I wrong. I do get it that they have Bosa, which you can argue at this stage, is better than Von Miller. They played a lot of man coverage, and when they get Mahomes to 3rd and long, they played zone but was terrible at it. Maybe Ward is not all the way back but he's just a shell of himself back when he was with KC in the past who made Diggs disappear.
On the flip side though, I do see Mahomes played more controlled, at ease kind of pace. Part of it, I think, is that he knows the 49ers has Garoppolo, not Josh Allen. He does not have to press the issue the whole game. What he said after the game that the chemistry with his receivers improving might be true. This is something I do think will be a factor down the road for us.
Overall, I really appreciate what McDermott and Frazier did against them: no big plays other than the miss-tackle on JuJu. Milano stopped so many would-be big plays at the backfield and our secondary just wouldn't let people get by them. Can't believe the 49ers didn't take a page from the Bills.
