Jordan Greenway was scratched for the Oiler game.

Jeff Skinner and JJ Peterka were benched for large parts of the game. See details:

Later in the period, Jeff Skinner coughed up the puck on the power play giving the Oilers a 2-on-0 shorthanded goal scored by Warren Foegele. Skinner has really been struggling badly and found himself on the bench once again. He only played 9:15 in this game. JJ Peterka joined him as he didn’t play from the middle of the second period on. He played two shifts in the final two periods and overtime. Overall he played 6:04.

I thought both teams took turns being sloppy, but it was nice to get the 'W'.

Twice.

Sat next to four or five canadians, (that were actually sober, ironically) who had a great respect for Granato and the Sabres.

The building was roughly 75% orange.

I could def hear people cheering for Edmonton on the TV broadcast. How does that happen?

I mean, it’s one thing if it’s Toronto or Pittsburgh. They’re good teams with star players that are an easy drive, and tickets are much cheaper in Buffalo.

Edmonton is good and has stars, but the city is 2200 miles across the continent. People aren’t just hopping in their cars and going for a drive.

Tomorrow's game is actually pretty big

I know this will get laughs. But somehow, if Buffalo wins tomorrow against Detroit, they are within 5 points of them.

The teams above them haven't put them away yet. It's still a game that matters, albeit in the most extreme way

That’s really frustrating. Last year, they missed the playoffs by 1 point. This year, if they had won 3 or 4 more games, this is a legit race. If they had won 5 or 6 more, they’d be in really good shape.

Seeing a lot of NHL pundits and journalists saying Buffalo is going to be a very interesting team this offseason. Byram was the first domino.

Interesting because this offseason will be the make-it or break-it off-season for Kevyn Adams. Either he gets some name veteran forwards that can score or he will be out. Kulich, Rosen, Savoie aren't going to be enough, in the short term, to save him his job. Skinner has worn out his welcome. There are plenty of other players that can equal his 2022 output that don't go cold for long stretches and play a responsible defensive game. Look at tonight's opponent's leading goal scorer. Get Skinner outta town and get someone like Larkin.

Larkin's don't just grow on trees. That's another problem. You have to draft and develop them from within.
