Lets talk about the reality of the Bills
For all the *****ing and whining you guys are ignoring fact. FACT would be no one worth a damn on average wants to play for the Bills. FACTS are until we sign some mid tier FA's, Draft well and play worth a damn with good coaching, we aren't going to get anyone worth a damn in here.
We have an owner that voted against the CBA pissing off some players I am sure. (right or wrong doesn't matter). We have an 80+ year old GM, New staff, 3rd HC in 6 years etc.
With stuff like that esp 3 HC in 6 years that shows potential FAs no stability in this franchise. Yeah I want to come play for DJ but will he be here in 2 years? Tons of stigma's that have to be gotten rid of before we can really attract people.
FACTS are Marv Levy is paying for Tom Donahoe's sins. You can't shake that off in one offseason. Marv is trying but he has the deck stacked against him at this point.
So again I say, Sign good up and coming mid tier FA's like NE did. Draft well like NE did. Then play some solid football which we can with good coaching (And I think we finally have that again) and show potential FA's we are not the team of the last 6 years and are on the way up. When that is done guys will want to come here.
Marv called the agent for Mawae before FA started. No visit came, why? Apperantly he didn't want to be here. Fabini was apperantly having his agent work his arse off to get a deal done with Tampa or Dallas while getting a free meal from the Bills, so he really didn't want to be here either. We were option 3 or 4. Pickett the same way. he hauled arse outta here and didn't meet with our press. The next day he signs with GB.
We do NOT want guys that are here just because we offer more money. We want FA's that actually have us 1 or 2 on thier FA list and let money be 'A' factor. Not THE factor. It never works out well if the guy is just here for money.
I will finish with remember what it was like when we were an attractive team? Bryce Paup, chris spielman etc all wanted to be here. How did they do for us? Quinn Early was brought in as a #2 WR to Reed. he really wanted to go to Dallas, Atlanta or back to New Orleans to stay near where he family was. But we WAY out bid for him. How did that work out? The guy sucked for us.
We need to get through this offseason and draft well. Let the process play its self out. We will have a good amount of cap room next year and if we play well on the field (wins and losses mean nothing, play well and improve) then we will be higher on better FA's lists.
Re: Lets talk about the reality of the Bills
Speaking of reality, look at what ICE just did to my account this morning. He was upset by being negged back a whole 1 point and then actually spent time looking up every single post I've made and negging me. This goes on for pages.
Since he's been booted off both TSW and BB.com ( Undertaker ) for his sparkling behavior, he's bringing his REALITY over here.
Impressive !

It's because of those facts that I'm *****ing and whining.

I did that? Hummm....I know several that are tired of your crap. That type of negging has been going on lately.
As for as TBD and BB.com I can post at both, I just sit back and talk to buddies over there. R.Rich can verify

And you can ask around, if it were just me, your arse wouldn't have a positive point.

That's a lame excuse. Why would a player not want to play here because of a GM who's no longer here? Athletes aren't that dumb. I would think Marv's got a pretty good reputation around the league, unless people hold his age against him, which you suggested yourself. In that case, Marv is screwed, period. He isn't going to grow younger, and neither is Ralph, so why would anyone think we have stability now or in the future?
Maybe players think Ralph is the problem, and that can't be pinned on TD.

TD screwed up this franchise. the FRANCHISE isn't attractive that is why they dont' want to play here. That is on TD, not marv. Marv is a HOF coach that has the respect of all of the former players he coached. Marv isn't the issue.

I agree with ICE that the franchise may be the issue and not Marv. However, I just don't know if Marv is cut out to be a GM. We will see after this year...maybe I'm wrong. Crap, I hope I'm wrong!:grovel:
Re: Lets talk about the reality of the Bills
He will be fine nighthawk. I would have been worried if he tried to reach and outbid for hutch or Bentley. he knows how NE built thier team. He also knows what a mess the Bills are now.
This is why I expect us to try and trade down a spot or two, still take Bunkley, and pick up more picks to build though this draft
Re: Lets talk about the reality of the Bills
What about the franchise is not attractive now? What's the constant? What is it that TD did that remains after he's gone?
Few teams have the stigma of losing that Arizona has, but they landed Edgerrin James, among others. Cleveland has been an embarassment ever since it returned to the league, but they've had a windfall this offseason. The last team I'd want to play for right now is New Orleans, but Drew Brees disagreed. Stigma is no excuse.

Now, if we could move down, get more picks and get Bunkley...WOW, that would be the $hiit!
Re: Lets talk about the reality of the Bills
It could be worse, we could be the Patriots. They've bleed talent this off-season like their jugular was cut and no one wants to play for their non-loyal cheap asses. Meshawn Johnson had this to say about coming to New England"
"Man, I think about Matt Hasselbeck putting the ball between the 1 and
the 9 on my jersey, and my heart starts racing," Johnson said. "I think
about Trent Green tossing it around downfield, or Donovan McNabb
scrambling and chucking it 80 yards.... I think about being part of Eli
Manning's emergence, or helping Daunte Culpepper get back on track ...
and there's always Tom Brady if I'm willing to play for $5 a year."

Money, money, money, money.....it's all about the money, you spend it, you have a legit chance to win. You don't, and it's obvious the whole reason most everyone wanted to get the CBA done was to have more money to spend. RW is living in 1950 when the best palyer in football signed a 5000.00 contract. He needs to step down and give the control to someone that is a little more able to handle the current NFL. This isn't a knock on RW, it's just his time to step down.

I think Meshawn is going to be shocked at how little he makes now.
